I was wondering if anyone has any information that would be able to help me
out. For a project, I need to convert an AT keyboard to run on a standard
XT. (Only because I can't find a reliable source for XT keyboards cheap.)
I was thinking of writing an Assembly program to use an 8031 (Just because
the chip is only a couple of dollars) to do the conversion, but would prefer
to find something less time intensive. If anyone would have plans for the
circuitry and the code to run it, I would be open to other methods of
converting the signals. It is not an actual XT I need the keyboard for, but
an 80188 system that requires the older keyboard.

Thanks in advance for the assistance,

I think your only hope is to find an old keyboard with the XT-AT
switch underneath. To my knowledge, the signals are the same
electrically but the protocol is definitely different. You might try
this url for info on keyboard interfacing:

Have you thought it might be cheaper to put in an AT motherboard?
