And the bells of Maranello finally ring with strength: at the end of the
Friday Mass, the parish priest don Alberto Bernardoni joined the massive
crowd of Tifosi and unleashed the ropes of the bells of the Maranello
Church, the bells that signed the start of the celebrations. "I know, the
sound of the bells arrived late today, but I was reciting the mass. We
prayed properly, and Michael raced properly as well," comments Alberto to
the journalists at the end of the mass. "I'm really happy. It's a great
pleasure. I watched the race only at the start, when things were not
looking so good"
In the meantime, in the streets of Maranello the joy of the fans goes on
and on. It is multiplying by the minute, slogans for Schumi, for Ferrari,
flags waving. In front of the big screens, when the national anthem starts
to be played, many were those who were touched and in a sort of "general
chorus", accompanied the anthem. The cold and rain of the night, which the
tifosi stood in, finally turned into a warm embrace which involved all the
habitants of Maranello, and the supporters which reached the home of
Ferrari. Many were those who went in front of the gates of the factory, to
celebrate the triumph of the drivers' title.
