Hello All!
Every1 knows that juridical english distinguish from spoken english or
something. So, once I showed a part of the text to an american and asked him to
help me with a translation, but he could not say much :)
So, let ask you ALL to help me with the translation, cos I have not got
everythig from this part of the text. Thx a lot in advance!
The text is:
1. The Company agrees to provide you with two weeks advance notice of
termination of employment, except that the company shall not be required to
provide any such notice or to make any payments to you in lieu of notice or
with respect to the notice period if the termination of your employment is for
cause. You are obliged to give four weeks notice to the Company if you wish to
terminate. You acknowledge that this advance notice by you is reasonable and
necessary under such circumstances due to the substantial effort, time and
expense the Company will be required to incur in employing and relocating you
and in replacing your services.
In the event that you breach the termination notice or other provisions of this
Agreement or that your employment is terminated voluntarily or for cause prior
to the completion of eighteen months of employment or your obtaining of
permanent residency status ("Green Card"), or within six months after your
relocation to a new customer site or prior to the completion of any project to
which you are then assigned, you agree (1) to repay in full all actual travel
and relocation expenses or other advances paid or reimbursed to you by the
Company and you authorize the Company to deduct and withhold such repayment in
full from any compensation or other amounts otherwise owed or payable to you;
and (2) to reimburse the Company for all costs and expenses (including legal
fees) incurred in connection with your application for H-1 Visa status or Green
Card status; (3) to Company's withdrawal of its sponsorship of your H-1 visa
status or Green Card Status; and (4) to pay the Company as liquidated damages
and not as a penalty a further sum equaling the billing revenue lost by Company
as a result of your breach. You acknowledge that liquidated damages in such
amount is reasonable under the circumstances in light of the fact that
significant damages and expenses will be suffered or incurred by the Company
and in recognition of the difficulty and further expense of proving the exact
amount thereof. You authorize the Company to deduct and withhold all amounts
to be paid by you under this paragraph from any compensation or other amounts
otherwise owed or payable to you.

What particular bit of *legal* English don't you
understand?
If, contrary to the impression created by the way
you write, it is really a few expressions, I would
help.
If not, I suggest you give the text to someone who
*does* understand English for translation.

If the Company wants to fire you they promise to tell you two weeks
before except if they fire you "for cause".

If you want to quit you have to tell them four weeks before. Plus you
agree that it's very bad if you don't.
