compiled from the Ohio-Penn DX Bulletin and other sources:
IN3VZE and IN3BHR are active as 7Q7CE and 7Q7RB from Malawi between
9 and 23 September. Activity is on all bands 160 to 10 metres SSB.
DL6KAC is active as EA6/DL6KAC from Mallorca between 6 and 28 September.
Activity is on 40 to 10 metres mainly SSB, with some digimode.
Phil, G4OBK, is active from Crete using the special Olympic callsign
J42004Q until 15 September and thereafter as SV9/G4OBK using wire antennas
for 30 to 10 metres. Phil is mainly active on RTTY and CW and maybe
a little PSK31 and SSB.
A group of Japanese amateurs are operating from Sri Lanka as 4S7DUG
from 18 to 23 September . Activity is on 160 to 6 metres with an emphasis
on the lower bands. They plan to have four stations active simultaneously.
F4DZY is active from Corsica as TK/F4DZY from 8 to 22 September . Look
for him on the HF bands using SSB.

S9 - Jorge, CT1EFV will take part in the "Latitude Zero Equatorial
Challenge 2004" humanitarian mission to Sao Tome. He plans to
operate as S92LZ on 19-26 September, depending on local conditions.

ST - Dane, ST2T (S57CQ) [425DXN 684] is still in Sudan and, according to
his QSL manager, will remain there for another 2-3 months. He
expects to operate in the WAEDC SSB Contest during the weekend. QSL

SU - Gab, HA3JB will operate as SU8BHI from Egypt from 21 September to 20
December. He plans to be QRV on CW, PSK, RTTY and some SSB, and to

TT - TT8KR is the callsign issued to Robert, S53R [425DXN 697]. Expect
him to be active from N'Djamena until 14 September. He will try to

UR - Special event call EO1WRP will be aired on all bands and modes on

VE - Look for special event call VE3QCWA to be aired from 17 September
through 17 October for the QCWA International Convention that will
be held in Ottawa on 15-17 October. QSL via VE3IQ. Founded in 1947,
the Quarter Century Wireless Association is open to amateur radio
operators who have been licenced for at least 25 years (please visit

VE - Ken, G3OCA expects to be active as VE7/G3OCA from Quadra Island
(NA-091) for a couple of days between 20 and 25 October. [TNX G3OCA]
VK - The Northern Corridor Radio Group (VK6ANC) will activate the special
callsign VI6175WA to celebrate the 175th anniversary of existence of
the state of Western Australia. The callsign will be aired for the
first time in the Oceania DX SSB Contest; after that it will be used
on the HF bands by individual members of the club for the rest of

VK - Paul, G0WRE plans to operate (mostly on +/- 14260 and 21260 kHz)
from Magnetic Island (OC-171) and maybe from an island in the
Queensland State (South Coast) North Group (OC-160). The dates are
not sure as yet but it will be between 14 and 20 October. Paul will
collect his licence upon arrival. Those wishing a contact with

AN-008) and VP8ROT (Rothera Base on Adelaide Island, - Antartica Aw. G-07,

Leonardo Lastrucci, IZ5FSA has developed a software which allows to query the
425 DX News Archive maintained on www.ariscandicci.it from the PacketCluster.
The command is SH/425 <text>, where <text> should be replaced with a
callsign, a reference number, etc. Examples:
SH/425 I2YDX (callsign)
SH/425 Oroluk (island name)
SH/425 NA-020 (IOTA reference number)
SH/425 UR-01 (Antarctica Award ref.no.)
SH/425 ARG-005 (lighthouse ref.no)
After being tested successfully on the DX Spider Cluster nodes of IK1ZNW
(telnet://dx.ik1znw.org 8000), IK4ICZ (telnet://ik4icz.dyndns.org 8000),
IK8VRN (telnet://ik8vrn.dyndns.org 7000), IZ5FSA (telnet://iz5fsa.homedns.org
7300) and IZ7AUH (telnet://iz7auh.dyndns.org 8000), the software will be
presented at the forthcoming ARI HF-DX Convention [425DXN 691] and has
already been included in the DX Spider Cluster version 1.51 (build 58.3) by
Dirk Koopman, G1TLH.

4S - Twenty-five Japanese operators will be active on all bands and modes
from Sri Lanka on 18-25 September. QSL via home calls, direct or

7Q - Renato, IN3BHR has joined Ely, IN3VZE (7Q7CE) [425DXN 693] and will
operate on 10-160 metres SSB as 7Q7RB from the Resort Club Makokola

7X - Angel/EA1QF, Pere/EA3CUU, Paco/EA4BT, Emilio/EA7AAW, Julio/EA7JB,
Juan Lucas/EA7TL and Ramon/EB4EPJ will be active from Algeria on 2-9
October. They will operate from the QTH of 7X0AD, probably using his
callsign. QSL via EA4URE. The activity will be held in co-operation
9A - Zik, DL/VE3ZIK (4N1DX) will be active again as 9A/VE3ZIK from
Croatia on 12-19 September. It will be a holiday style operation
from Bilice, near Sibenik (JN73WS). He will try to concentrate on

9K - The Daily DX reports that the announced 9K2F (AS-118) operation
[425DXN 696] has been postponed.
CE - A group of operators from the Atacama Desert DX Group and Radio Club
La Serena will be active (on 10-80 metres CW, SSB, BPSK31 and SSTV)
as XR2G from Damas Island (SA-086) on 25-26 September to celebrate
the 40th anniversary of IOTA. QSL via XQ1IDM. [TNX XQ1IDM]

CO - Angel, EA1QF and Carlos, EB1AA will work on a "Radiosolidaridad"
project in Cuba on 12-25 October and will operate as T42R in their

The DX Spider Cluster by Dirk Koopman, G1TLH gives the possibility of joining
chat or conference groups and have network wide conferencing to them. The
system uses the existing ANN system and is compatible with both other
DXSpider nodes and AK1A clusters. Two new groups have been created recently:
* 425DXN (for announcing short-term activities, updates, fresh information
on ongoing operations, etc) and
* IOTA (for information, comments, QSL routes, etc about IOTA operations).
Commands (replace <group> with 425DXN or IOTA as appropriate, e.g. JOIN
425DXN or JOIN IOTA):
* JOIN <group> : join the conference group
* CHAT <group> <text> : chat or conference to a group (the message is
received only by those who are currently joined)
* SHOW/CHAT <group> : shows the latest announces sent on that group
* LEAVE <group> : leave a chat or conference group
A few PackeClusters have enabled JOIN 425DXN and JOIN IOTA by default. If you
are not interested in these groups, please use the LEAVE command.

HTC-QRP SPRINT CONTEST ---> This CW only event, organized by the Helvetia

MIA CONTEST ---> The Mediterranean Islands Contest, organized by the

QSL 4K6DI ---> Effective 1 September, W3HNK is no longer the QSL manager for
Andrew, 4K6DI. The new QSL route is via DL7EDH (Alexander Spielmann, Hubertus

Office Box will not be closed, as Frank's wife Siegrid (DL7CN) will be
handling QSL duties.
Mike, ZP5YW informs that Gary, ZP5ZR passed away on 8 September. He was a
well known DXer, with special interest for 6 metres and the satellite bands
(www.sistemas.com.py/zp5yw/zp6m/zp5zr.htm).

IH9P M/M in CQWW SSB Contest 2000
IH9P - The Pantelleria Contest Team - will once again travel to
Pantelleria Island (CQWW zone 33, African Italy, IOTA:AF-018, IIA:TP-01) for
thisyears CQWW SSB contest at the end of October.
Team Pantelleria's goal will be to be more competitive than in 1999's
effort, with the addition of a few new operators, new antenna systems and a new
site located just few meters far from salt water.
The team will be arriving on the Island on the 22nd of October and should
be testing the station installations by Thursday.
This year's team members include KR7X, W1NA, W7ZB, OL5Y, I2IFT, IK2ANI,
IK2CIO, IK2HKT, IK2RZP, IK2YCN, IN3QBR, I8QLS, IK8ETA, IT9BLB, IT9VDQ,
IT9WPO, IT9ZGY, IT9ZMX.
This year's operation looks again to be an all FT-1000 MP effort with
assorted amplifiers.
Team Pantelleria IH9P looks forward to being your zone 33 multiplier for
the contest and working all of you in the contest.

postal rates increased by 10% starting 6th September 2004", Alan Roocroft,
VK4AAR reports. "Please make allowances for this when enclosing reply
postage. Also, it is not a good idea to attach Australian stamps to your SAE
because 95% of DXers get the wrong series of stamps and the wrong value.
Please let us do it ourselves. We know the system best and it is different to
most countries".

+ SILENT KEY + Captain Lee E. Reisenweber, K3RGD/VP2VE passed away on 21
February at the San Juan VA Medical Center, San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is
interred at Puerto Rico National Cemetery Bayamon. First licensed at the age
of 12, Lee was president of the BVI Amateur Radio League. During the Vietnam
War he served in the United States Marine Corps. Lee's family asks that
anyone knowing Lee that have pictures or stories they can share to please
