well... I like almost all kinds of beer except dark ones. The only dark one
i like is guinnes. I like 'BALTIKA' - it's a russian beer, and Miller Magnum -
that is defenitely not, hehe. Alcohol content shouldn't be more than 7.2% i

Dark beer and pizza...Now them's good scarfin's...I'm not a beer
drinker...But I don't think 7.2% is the content here in the states...In fact I
think its a lot less...I will drink a 151 Rum and Coke before I'll drink
anything else.

"Miller", "Grolsch", "Budweiser", "Staropramen", "Holsten", "Heineken",
"Amsterdam", "Bavaria" and other (4..12% of alcohol).

The US beer manufactures have alrady moved into Russia...Boy they don't
waste any time...Along with Germany, Holland, and the others. Looks like you've
got alot to choose from.
Over here some of the investigative television reports about Russians
Say that ya'll have a problem with too many of your people drinking. I usually
like to hear things straight from the original source...So, is there a problem
over there with way to many people drinking way to much alcohol???
If it's true then I guess that would explain why the beer companies
moved so fast.

yeah, thats a real problem, national problem. during all it history russia was

not only beer, first it were companies which produce food/bevÅrage/medicine
products. Any product which you can import and sell in short amount of time.
Now electronic/car etc companies join them

That's right. It's a problem - unfortunately it's a real problem, a
problem, that came from ancient times. Russian people realy can (and they do)
drink much more, than foreigners, this problem is genetic to some extent ;(, of

No. Americans have a problem with too many of your people is not drinking :-)
:-) :-) You are right, but it not the big problem.
Yesterday my friends-fidonetters is meet. I drink ~3 liters of beer and
gin-tonic, and after that... write little program on the Pascal for my job ;-)

Many sorts of american beer selling in Russia long ago.
But... Prices is big. For example, russian beer "Baltika" or "Ochakovo"
i can buy beyond 4000-6000 roubles (1$=6000 roubles), and import beer
beyond 5000-25000 (about 0.5 liter). Unfortunately, after 6 years of
krisis, Russia-no rich country. :-( Only in 1997 condition of our economic is
beginning improve.
After beginning economical reforms in Russia quality of Russian beer is
improved.

No, it is not a problem of those who drink, but of those who near them. By
the way, true Russian so called "drinkers" dont waste their time for drinking
such baby-drink as beer. They mostly drink vodka, that is 40% alcohol. Sometimes
they mix it with beer. They get drank and sing songs, beat each other, and do
things like that, having fun...
Such things happen to the people who have no sense in their lifes...
BTW what is the average thing for Americans, that makes life worth to live?

If it matters Alexey, I think alcohol is a problem in most places. Over
here they have a program call M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers). After so
many of our teenagers were being killed in auto accidents, a group of mothers
decided to do something about it.
Of course to me (a former bar owner), its just like telling me I haven't
grown up and can't function without a mother telling we how...:'( I am a grown
man and I know how much to drink. And when to call a cab or a friend to drive me

Beer here is about $1.25 a bottle in the bars. And about $4.?? for a

i suspected that not all these ppl are really in the echo.. well, you are the
third one, if i'll count myself! <g>

Surely you know, that Russia's the country, vodka was invented in :-\ that's
one. Two is that Russian alcohol was the strongest even at ancient times: French
wines, British beer, ale, etc... Maybe tequilla could stand against :)
There's a hm.. legend about the Russian Christianity - you might know, that
Russia became a Christian country a thousand years ago, so representatives of
world religions came to Russian czar Vladimir at that time and they offered
their religions to be Russia's national religion... When czar learned, that the
Islam prohibited drinking, he said, that is would be impossible to make it
Russian religion, so he chose Christianity :)

I knew Russia grew a lot of potatoes, and therefore had lotz of surplus
to do something with. You know Grisha, I never stopped to think about it until
now. And your right...British are known for their ale/beer, the French for their
wines, Germany for their beer, Mexico for its To-Kill-Ya (tequila), China for
its Saki (liquor made from Rice), and so on and so forth. Seems like when there
is an over abundance of anything it is made into an alcoholic drink of some
kind.

In the bars we are drink only expensive barrels beer.

In Russia now the customs is big...

Yes, you are right. But... for example, i'm a student, and like to drink
bottle of beer after studies/work(i work in little financial company). I preper
to buy 0.5 liter of good russian beer instead 0.33 liter of imports.

amen.. ;)
The only thing I want to say to you, Grigory, is that I know many humans who
are not very clever, they drink a lot of vodka (often bad vodka) and they cut
their lives, of course and, you know, they are right. And I do not prevent them
from doing it. On the other hand I know much more clever people who
drink vodka as well and it is their business and they are right. ;)
