Hello!

Boy it's slow...

Yesterday I received app. 200 files (plus .TIC-files), and started tossing them
at 17:13..

It's now 4:54 (11 hours, 41 minutes later) and finally finished.. Can it really
be true that Allfix is this slow??

My system is a 486DX/4-133, 32MB Ram, running Warp 3, fixpack 26 (Open32)..
Hardly no other things are running, and NO downlinks are connected to any areas
(which only makes it even slower)..

Running an "ALLFIX SCAN MGR FILE ANNOUNCE" takes 55 seconds if there are no
files to toss, no requests for allfix, or no matched for file-searching, this I
think is also too slow...

The files are being tosssed from drive E: to drive D: (seperate disks, both
FAT-formatted).

FastEcho e.g. runns like a dream, as does GoldED (both for OS/2).

I just timed how long time it took processsing one of the ZIP-files: 5 minutes
37 seconds. OK I give in to that that area in particular is very big
(FILESS.BBS — 68 KB, 1300+ files) but I think this is unaccaptable..

Unpacked files are much faster (e.g. BACKBONE.NA): 19 seconds!

Regards Henning Fuchs

There is something wrong, but what to blame at this point is hard to tell.
Allfix/2 5.10.008 is very Fast and does not take 5 mins to process a Zip or any
other file. Here is a small segment of one of my logs:

I suggest checking the Allfix priority under System Data --> Global Options, I
have mine set at +31

You want my log for the 200 files? (-;

I just tried that, and it seemed to help, but I only had 1 file to process, in
an area with few files.. Looking forward to seeing who long time it'll take for
the large areas.. (-;
