Thank you for your very lengthy reply Dave. I agree with what you are saying,
however, I have a little difficulty placing the comment that you made in the
paragraph above. This discussion was about the ALLFIX.BSY file. If I understand
you correctly, you would like to see more direct internet support in ALLFIX.
Are you suggesting dailer type functionality, direct smtp/pop support? Or are
you suggesting something else?

Yep, you are correct..... the discussion _did_ begin with the ALLFIX.BSY
file, but was expanded as a result of my comments regarding the real need
to add a .BSY flag control to ALLFIX. If I got too far off base, I
apologize.

Bingo! Currently, one MUST use one of the Dial Up Network utilities
supported by the operating system being used plus the e-mail client of
choice to respond to FREQ's via e-mail when Allfix could do it all by
using a "filter" file. FIDO2INT does exactly that, altho it still must
use the default DUN. By using the filter file, it only grabs the
FIDOnet Mail/File packets, leaving my normal e-mail on the server.
For me, that is a big plus, as the BBS always gets the mail & files, and
not bother the normal e-mail. I seldom get my e-mail at home anyway,
usually using my notebook from the office or a motel room as I travel.
If ALLFIX were able to perform that function, it would separate the BBS
mail from private e-mail and insure e-mail with FREQ's would be properly
processed.
Keep in mind, I'm still an Internet "newbie" and there may well be other
programs that work with OS/2, WIN9x, etc., that do what I envision. You
asked for ideas and suggestions...... well... I responded. <BFG>
Hope this helps explains what I was trying to get across.
Thanks...
Have a GREAT one!

No need to apologize ;-)

Sorry for the long quote.
You've got an interesting idea here. It might even be worth a try ;-) I'm not
sure if I can pull it off though. Making an internet dailer is something that
I've never attempted to do, and I have no idea where to begin. But ... we all
need challenges in life ;-) If I decide to do it, it won't be any time real
soon, since I'm in the middle of working on some other new "major" features
;-))
Thanks,
