Hello,

Try scanning between approx. 460.00 MHz and 480.00 MHz for police / fire
(also try between approx. 150.00 MHz - 160.00 MHz)

try between approx. 35.00MHZ and 45.00MHZ for utility / fire / ambulance

(warning - remember cordless phones are between approx. 45.00MHZ and 48.00
MHz and as I understand it it is illegal to even monitor those calls under
current law)

So...if you scan between the above freqs. you will get most if not all
police/ fire/ etc. traffic in your area!

Hope this will help...also note that Radio Shack has an area freq listing
publication called "Police Call"...they are very inexpensive books and list
thousands of freqs. in your state and adjoining states as well....try it you
will impressed with the coverage!
