InQuest: New Pentium IIIs in Mid-2001
Information published on the Internet through InQuest suggest that Intel will
continue to introduce new processors in its Pentium III line following the
release of its Pentium IV in Q4 2000. Called Tualatin, it is Intel's internal
code name for its P3 manufactured using a 0.13 micron process. Though larger
caches will be possible, the main benefits will be faster speeds, lower cost and
the option to move to a faster 200 MHz front side bus, researcher Bert McComas
wrote. Tualatin was said to be scheduled for production sometime in Q3 2001 or
late Q2 2001.
