WhenAlec came back from Alicante, life had seemed to finally be looking up for him. No longer "Acting" Head of the Institute, all of his hard work had finally paid off. He was the youngest official, fully-vested Institute Head in the past 150 years. Something he'd worked damn hard to achieve.

With the introduction of Clary Fray into their lives, and all the chaos she brought with her, Alec came home to an Institute in upheaval. Unsanctioned missions, a search for the Cup, and Valentine's daughter running free. And his very first steps towards trying to fix it all - reaching out to the High Warlock they'd all managed to use for help somehow without paying him - ends with a whole lot more trouble than Clary could've ever brought him.

Alec goes on a journey that starts with pain and ends with a strange bond he never wanted, a husband he never thought he could have, and the chance to finally affect some real changes in the Shadow World.

After the Uprising, the Clave buried all information about the Circle and Jocelyn Fairchild disappeared into the Mundane world. Fifteen years later, one poorly timed spell from a warlock with a grudge changes the course of history.

Michael Wayland has never been dead.

The victory over Valentine in the Mortal War was made possible by this unexpected revelation. The aftermath, however, besides peace among the Nephilim, also brought grief and uncertainty for the Lightwood family. While Alec wishes to live a honest life with Magnus and Maryse fears her marriage has reached a point of no return, Robert must learn to reconcile his old self with his current self. Anything should be possible with the support of family and friends, but the Lightwoods are about to find out there's no future in the horizon without understanding the past.

A shadowhunter AU where downworlders are sex workers by choice, Alec has an arranged marriage to Lydia in the works, to restore the Lightwood family name with the clave, and it's tradition to have a downworlder prepare a shadowhunter before marriage.

At eight years old, Alec sneaks out to Central Park after he needs some space away from his siblings and the loudness of the Institute where he sees two Seelies use the entrance in the park. And what followed after changed the structure of the Shadow World.

"Despite purposefully cultivating this image, this mask of a perfect Shadowhunter, perfect son, it didn't stop him from being irrationally disappointed, upset even, when his siblings couldn't see underneath the facade. He wanted them to look at him, see the way his smiles never reached his eyes, how his shoulders hiked up to his ears when he had to speak in front of people, how his hands clenched into fists when his parents started making disparaging comments about Downworlders even as he nodded stiffly along.

Faced with the end of his life and everything he'd ever been a part of, everything he'd ever known, Alec finds that maybe things aren't as over as he thought. They won't be the same, not ever again, but maybe with the help of someone he'd convinced himself he could never have, he can take what was done to him and make it into something even better. Something that, for the first time in his life, he can be proud of.

It was by sheer luck that he happened to be found by Luke Garroway. Through him, Alec met Dot, the woman who would become both teacher and guardian, and he met the small, fierce little girl who would eventually become his best friend.

alec's been geting reports of a demon, unlike anything they've seen before attacking mundanes and killing the shadowhunters who try to stop it.

mostly by the harbor and by mostly he means compleatly, but it dosent stick to a specific time of day, or a group of people, mundanes, shadowhunters, one unfortunate wearwolf, black, white, asian, mexican, man or woman, one particularly unfortunate nonbainary shadowhunter as well, it dosent matter.

A group of downworlders choosing to trust in Alec over Clary, Izzy, and Jace. Alec getting recognition for 'his people' slowly but consistently improving relations, making compromises, and keeping promises vs pretty talk that promises the world but will strike you in the back for speaking against them.

Alec counts in his head, trying to keep his breathing as even and slow and possible. Babies are sensitive and if werewolf newborns are anything like nephilim ones, then they come with a set of instincts to protect them.

Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series, epic urban fantasy set in a richly imagined world of shadowhunters, vampires, werewolves, fairies, and more, has captured the imaginations and loyalty of hundreds of thousands of YA readers. Originally a trilogy (City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass), the series has extended to six titles, plus a prequel trilogy, the Infernal Devices, and a planned sequel series, the Dark Artifices. A feature film is planned for 2013. Shadowhunters and Downworlders, edited by Clare (who provides an introduction to the book and to each piece), is a collection of YA authors writing about the series and its world.
