I'm looking at this product and what I really want is the antivirus, antimalware part of the software package. I don't need a VPN, or a password manager, or whatever. Just the antivirus. So, while I had been thinking I would purchase the whole package and just put up with the extras, I now see the free version. But the thing I can't figure out is that the MacOS free version seems to be missing something: mainly antivirus.
Am I reading this right? "Virus Scanner" app on MacOS store doesn't actually scan for MacOS viruses? It only scans for MacOS malware and Windows viruses? Seems a bit deceptive, if I do say so myself. Or is the description a typo?

I wouldn't cut corners when it comes to security and purchase the full version instead. Long Answer: The Primary purpose of an ID Scanner is to warn when an underage ID is scanned which turns out to be the number ONE cause for citations. In a busy retail environment, a clerk/server is motivated to rapidly complete the sales process. In this environment, it is easy for a new or tired clerk/server skipping important steps or making calculation errors.
2. Some fake IDs will scan, but have a different name on the screen than printed on the ID. These fake IDs have a barcode that scans, but the barcode information does NOT match the printed information on the ID. In this case, the scanner will help catch this fake ID by allowing the operator to cross-check the barcode data with the printed data. This illustrates the importance of the Scanner operator during the process.
