Hi,

I'm having a bit of an issue that I can't seem to think my way out and I was hoping somebody else might have already come across this particular issue (and solved it).

I've got a few thousand user accounts spread over a few dozen linux servers with various user accounts on each server. I want to introduce BeegFS as a way to expand the storage availability for the various users. However I'm running into an issue with the quotas. Let me paint you a picture:

Server A
Name - UID
Alice - 1001
Bob - 1002

Server B
Name - UID
Charles - 1001
Dave - 1002

Any files Alice and Bob add to BeegFS will also increment the quota for Charles and Dave and visa-versa.

Is there any known work-around other then using `du` and keeping a record of the quotas myself?

Regards,

Peter

Keep user names and UIDs consistent across all machines,
by use of NIS or LDAP/OpenDirectory.

In the current setup you might also run into
security issues where Alice can access Charles’s files etc.
