A storm a few weeks ago caused damage to Kismet's beach. A hole in their offshore sandbar allowed the waves to come in and take away part of their berm across a three block area. The small beach is preventing people from driving to the Kismet cut. Consequently, there are more cars and other vehicles using Central through Fair Harbor at this time of year. Please know that this is not their choice and kindly share the road with them.
Kismet's FIMI dunes are still intact and they had a volunteer beach cleanup to help remove old snow fencing and grade the scarp in front of some of their crossovers for better access. They’re hoping the berm will build back up this summer.
Cars are restricted to weekday driving now and car driving ends for the summer in about four weeks when school is out. Here are the exact rules:
May 2 to May 22
Weekday residents driving is permitted.
Driving on Saturday and Sunday may only occur before 9:00 am and after 6:00 pm
May 23 to June 26 (last day of school)
Monday-Friday: driving may occur only before 9:00 am and after 6:00 pm
Saturday and Sunday: No driving is authorized.
