To all Fair Harbor Residents:
This email is to inform you about the plans for shoreline stabilization and erosion repair along the Great South Bay shoreline from Cranberry Walk to Birch Walk and from Fifth Walk to Walnut Walk in Fair Harbor. Attached is a diagram of the project areas. The plan calls for construction of a living shoreline, adding sand, rocks and plants in these areas and using sand dredged from the swim area and marinas as needed. Studies and planning for this project started in 2021, and it is now at the final approval stages. We want to offer the opportunity for public comment on the proposed plans. The Fair Harbor Erosion Control District (ECD) has a sizable reserve fund for the construction and implementation of this plan, and we are looking into additional revenue sources from grants. When approved, the ECD, which is a taxing district, will look to bonds for any additional money needed.
If you wish to comment, please reply to this email or mail FHCA, 7000 Boulevard East 12F, Guttenberg, NJ 07093 by July 31, 2026.
Thanks.
