Food for Profit Workshop
The Entrepreneur's First Step Towards A Food Venture

A Food for Profit workshop presented by Penn State Extension and
University of Maryland Extension, and co-hosted by the Southern
Maryland Agricultural Development Commission, will be offered on
Wednesday, October 10, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at University of
Maryland Extension Calvert County, Community Resources Building, 30
Duke Street, Prince Frederick, MD  20678.

Whether it's growing and drying herbs, making jams or jellies, baking
bread and cakes, or packaging a gourmet dinner for one, food related-
businesses are becoming increasingly popular as a way to earn a living
(or to supplement your income). Food for Profit is a one-day workshop
designed to help you work through the maze of local and state
regulations, food safety issues, and business management concepts that
must be considered in setting up a commercial food business.

The Food for Profit workshop is especially directed to individuals and
any food business owners who want to make and package their products
for re-sale through grocery stores, open-air markets, or restaurants.

Pre-payment and advanced registration are required. RSVP by Wednesday,
October 3, 2012. Workshop fee of $45 per person includes lunch and
all program materials. Register online at: http://agsci.psu.edu/food-for-profit/prince-frederick or
call: (717) 270-4391, or email ww...@psu.edu.
