COME SUPPORT THE FARM PROPOSAL FOR FAIRFAX COUNTY'S NEW 40-ACRE PARK
IN MCLEAN:
One innovative proposal is to use part of the space to create the
County's own productive, ecologically- and financially-sustainable
farm whose mission is to donate 50% of the harvest to local people who
do not have access to fresh produce.

This would meet and exceed the goals for a community park, and have
long-term goals of:
Educating students and supporting future farmers
Creating a network of local public and private open space conserved
through active farming
Donating fresh produce through Food for Others, and bringing local
produce into schools
Increasing the wider community's connection to food and the land
CSA sales offering fresh, high-quality produce to hundreds of local
families would cover all operating expenses.

The park planning committee is interested enough that it unanimously
agreed to include this proposal in its public comment session – now
it's up to YOU to fill out a comment card to PROVE that there is
public support for sustainable farming in Fairfax County.

Public comment session for the future of the park:
Thursday, October 4
Come ANY TIME from 7:00-9:30pm and just fill out a comment card
McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Avenue, McLean, VA

Your “vote” really counts to let the County know that our community
values small, local farms.

PLEASE FORWARD to anyone you think would be interested. For more
