Hello Northwest Diamonds!

 

I wanted to share an opportunity I heard about with Girls Who Code in case you have any troops or girls who might be interested in attending.  More information and contact information is below and she (Carol Martin-Longwell) is copied in on this email so feel free to contact her with any questions. The deadline to apply is March 13^th and there are 40 spots available.

 

Our  FREE 7-week Summer Immersion Program :

• Runs from June 8 - July 24, 2020 in Bentonville at Walmart & Sam's Club
• Teaches 9th–11th grade students (rising sophomores, juniors or seniors) the computer science skills they need to make an impact in their community while preparing for a career in technology
• No prior experience in computer science is necessary to apply 
• Gives $250 to every student to cover transportation costs
• Provides students with free lunch every day & laptops for the duration of the program
• Offers summer stipends on a need basis between $350 and $1200 for students who qualify

 

Because our program is introductory, girls outside of computer science and math streams can feel confident trying something new. Here are links to the application, our video, and a flyer about the program. I am happy to come ispeak to any of your troops in Northwest Arkansas.
