Mark and I did meet up in Estes today, drove around the Y and thru
downtown. For the car show we agreed that holding the show at the Y
was the way to go due to space available on Y property vs. downtown.
The only downfall is what was mentioned, the Y is out of town a couple
miles and may not get much public viewing other than people staying at
the YMCA complex which they said is on average ~700 hotel rooms in all
of August, but doesn't include cabins and camping visitors. Mark made
the point for sponsorship purposes a high viewing public presentation
is important. So the Car Extravaganza happening this day is an
option. Every private business, including the Estes Brewery and
Funland parking lots were too small for us to even inquire about our
show. Even for just a cruise in around happy hour, we thought trying
to get 40 cars parked around there would be an enormous hassle, as
they would have to rope off the entire lot all day til we got there,
which from experience is always packed and cars parked up and down the
street, everywhere in summer. Finally, holding a car show at a
brewery at 9am doesn't make sense. 5Oclock somewhere is Germany!
The Y is an impressive complex and should be a great, fun base for us.
So lets add a discussion on issues regarding joining the car
extravaganza during our Monday phone discussion.
