I'm in a messaging mood. 
This is so simple. Vitamin D has always been a good idea. With these studies it seems criminal to not get enough. 5000 IU a day should get you above 30 ng/ml. I know that many of you already take vitamin D but just in case...

There is a very sharp drop in the death rate in the range of blood levels between 27 and 32 ng/ml vitamin D (marked area). At vitamin D levels above32 ng/ml, the death rate determined in this study is a factor of 10 lower than at vitamin D levels below 27 ng/ml.
