install error

hi there

i'm stuck with this error
if i try to install v. 0.5.3.1:
/usr/bin/ld: /usr/local/lib/libavformat.a(allformats.o): relocation
R_X86_64_32 against `aac_demuxer' can not be used when making a shared
object; recompile with -fPIC
/usr/local/lib/libavformat.a: could not read symbols: Bad value
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [ffmpeg.la] Error 1

and if i try 0.6:
/usr/bin/ld: /usr/local/lib/libswscale.a(swscale.o): relocation
R_X86_64_32S against `a local symbol' can not be used when making a
shared object; recompile with -fPIC


any hints anyone,
