What I really like about the ffprobe fork is that it can identify the
picture scanning format of video, so we can tell if a file is interlaced
top field first or lower field first, or progressive. I can't seem to do
that with ff What i'm having issues with is I can't seem to get
-print_format to work. We would either like to specify -print_format json,
or -print_format xml=fully_qualified=1. Can you please let me know if this
may exist, or is in the works?

I don't think there is -print_format option in ffmbc
