Hi, I'm currently trying the FFmbc to re-encode mxf medias.
The format of the new files looks really good!
I can import them on a Sony XDCAMHD (Prodisk), the Interra Baton says the file is perfect!
Please let me know I you would like some additional interop test on broadcast equipment such as Avid, Premiere, Finalcut, and what we can find in a TV Station ;-)
My question is: Is it a way to re-encode the time code from the original file in the transcoded version ?
I found the way to change the time code manually, but I wanted to automatically keep the time code of the original file.
I could be great to make a automatic file repair system (for example).
Thank you in advance for your answer and congratulation for this nice software !
Best regards.

Cedric.

Cedric,

Thanks a lot for the feedback ! Yes, please do test the files that would be great !
Regarding timecode auto copy, it's something Ive been thinking about, yeah, no ETA though.

Thanks a lot !

Hi Baptiste,
many thanks for your answer.
OK I will make some tests on some equipment in XDCAMHD422 PAL, I'll give you the results asap.
Kind regards.

Hi,

I transcoded two files with FFmbc 0.7.4  with -target xdcamhd422 in PAL format from a Gopro 50p file and an other xdcamhd file using two slightly different settings.

... and I successfully imported both files in:

Apple Final Cut Pro 10.2.3
Adobe Premiere CC2015
Avid Media Composer 8.2.0
Sony PDW-HD1500 (Directly to the disk in file transfer mode)
EVS Server via XTAccess 3.2.7.119
Sonaps / XPRI 5.3.2 (Our Newsroom system)

Let me know if you need more details.

Kind regards.

Cedric.

Hi Baptiste,

I generated the 24, 23.98, 29.97 fps/interlaced mode from my 50p Gopro's file.

All the files were successfully imported in Final Cut 10 and Premiere CC2015

For Avid I need a bit more time for the direct import, I need to make the rights settings.

I will try the Sony PDW-HD1500 also.
For EVS and Sonaps I can't do it because the systems are in production, I can't switch the picture's rate on them...

Best regards.

Hi,
I wanted to try the 23.98i, 24i, 29.97i in Avid Media Composer but it's not possible to create projects in Interleaved mode with those frequencies.
It's only allowed in Progressive mode by Avid.
Regards

Cedric.
