I flew to Texas about two weeks ago, and took delivery of Mini #29 at the Port of Galveston, towed it to Little Rock and displayed it at the SSA convention.

List week the glider was delivered to me here in California, and yesterday I took the trailer to DMV in a futile attempt to get it registered. I showed a Bill of Sale, a Certificate of Conformity, and all sorts of other stuff, but California wanted a Title Document, and I had nothing like that.

My question: Have any Mini owners had trouble registering the trailer? What documents did you produce as proof of ownership?

I've emailed Vytas in Lithuania asking for something that looks like a title, but any information you could supply would be most helpful.

I found it impossible to register my trailer in PA with similar bureaucracy and BS. I discovered that I could mail the paperwork and check for sales tax to VT and get a registration and plates mailed to me no questions asked. So my trailer is a VT trailer. Problem solved. I just got a letter to renew the registration which I did by mail. Very simple. VT doesn’t issue a title but I don’t really care. It is registered in my name and I have proof of ownership. Maybe an issue for a buyer if I ever try to sell it, but I’m sure we can sort it out then if needed.

Problem solved. Vytas, the LAK Director emailed my a specific Bill of Sale for the glider, and I found a more friendly DMV office. I was able to complete the registration, so now I am able to move the traler/glider when it need to go to jump through the remaining hoops!
