Hi everyone British person here Me and my family are once again road tripping round the USA. Last time was in 2022 when we did New England and Canada. This time we are heading South, starting and finishing at Nashville. We once again have a rough itinerary, courtesy of my Dad who does all the driving, bear in mind that our itineraries tend to be just a very basic guide, and normally they are redundant by the 2nd week. Anyway I am just wanting to know what the weather will be like from mid April to early May I know that's quite vague, as we are covering a fair few places and States, but I just need to know what to pack!! BTW we absolutely love visiting the States and travelling around, and can't wait to go again this year.
Posting a picture of a random place with no context as to why you're posting it is not ok. This is specific to road tripping and not a general travel sub. Your day trip to lake bled is not what this place is for. Pictures of roads, cars and other random things are not ok either. This is a place to share stories and advice. IF you want to post a picture of a sweet picture of a road, tell us about your trip.
The easiest way to start your grand circle road trip is from Las Vegas. There are plenty of flights to this airport (including many budget airlines like Southwest). Make sure to arrive in the morning so you can take full advantage of day one.
End the first day of your grand circle road trip by staying somewhere between Zion and Bryce Canyon. We opted for a rental property in Hatch, which is another hour north of Zion, and grabbed dinner at a local saloon.
If you have the time (and energy), hike the White Rim Overlook trail. This 1.8 mile roundtrip hike includes only 159 feet of elevation gain and will get you even closer to some of the canyon overlooks.
A road trip can be a profound test of any relationship. It can save a marriage or destroy it. We have this example of a road trip in Europe. Playwrights Candido Tirado and Carmen Rivera told the story at the Nuyorican Cafe in New York City as part of an evening of "traveling stories" organized by The Moth. (14 minutes)

The sun is setting and there are shafts of light over the mountains. The scene is golden and orange with a yellow sky. 2. A landscape image. A silver car drives along a mountain rural path. The scene is made of brown and orange hills. In the background, a blue coastline is seen with distant blue mountains in the background. The sky is overcast.

In the foreground, a stream is illuminated by the light. 2. A landscape image. In the foreground, seaweed makes up the scene. In the background, a loch is seen with towering mountains. A dark moody sky makes up the feel of the scene. 3. Matt stands on the door of a 44 on a desert road. The setting sun creates a golden light on the scene. Matt is in silhouette. He is taking a photograph. 4. A landscape image. In the foreground, moss and heather create greens, browns and oranges in the scene. In the midground, white cliffs are seen flowing into the sea. The sky is mono and is slightly overcast.

The sun is low in the sky and causes a haze in the foreground and makes the sky yellow and orange. In the background are mountain peaks. 2. A landscape image. A bending, grey mountain road snakes through the bottom third of the image. Around are brown and green grassy hills. In the background, grey Rocky Mountains form upwards and hit the sea. The sky is blue.
I really enjoyed reading this post! My wife and I traveled to Malibu a few years ago and LOVED it! Looking forward to showing our kids the beauty of California soon, and this road trip idea could be really awesome! Thank you for sharing. ?
We did this road trip in 2014 but we did it in 2 days, which in hindsight was nowhere near enough! I feel like we missed so much, so definitely need to go back and do it again slower and check out all the amazing places along the way.
I'm a mom, wife, teacher and travel junkie! Our family loves to hit the road every chance we get. Over the years we've learned a lot, and I'd love to share some of our favorite experiences and best tips with you!
We decided on a week-long trip (5 nights and 6 days to be exact) to see as much as possible. It can be quite overwhelming to plan such an expansive trip, but with a little (actually, a lot of) research, planning, excitement and motivation you can do it! And I hope this blog helps you with your planning. So here is how we broke it down.
From concerts to high school proms to the next Braves game, we make the trip as fun as the destination! Sit back & get your PARTY on with a group of friends old & new while you leave the hassles of traffic & parking to US!
So why choose Rockin Roadtrip for your party bus rental in Atlanta, GA? We offer a unique experience. Our party bus has state of the art sound and lighting systems, so you can party like a rock star. Plus, our drivers are professional and experienced, so that you can have a safe and enjoyable ride.
Early on the morning of July 1, we buckled up for our first family South Dakota road trip (and my first visit EVER) to South Dakota to celebrate Independence Day in the presence of Abe, Thomas, Teddy and George. Below is our detailed itinerary of how we spent our eight wonderful (but not too jam-packed) days in South Dakota.
Sunday morning around 10am, we finally pulled off our street and took off on our week long South Dakota road trip adventure. I was nervous for a road trip of this length, but the plan was to break it up quite nicely with fun pit-stops, ice cream and pizza and even an overnight hotel before arriving at our Black Hills destination. Sunday was a breeze. Everyone was pumped, snacks were aplenty, and entertainment was fresh and new. The driving part was cake this first day. We knocked out the first three hours from our St. Louis Park house easy peasy.
When it comes to great stays during your Colorado road trip, Breckenridge almost has too many options. My favorites are this cute condo with hot tub and pool access, this amazing luxury ski home that sleeps 15, and this cozy mountain chalet.
LoL you described italy using my exact words. Napoli, a traffic disaster. Amalfi coast, what dreams are made of. I esp loved Ravello and its quietness. The food in Rome is absolutely amazing even for someone with gluten disorders like me. Yes Italy is an amazing country and we visit almost every year. Last January my 10 year old son came along and loved Roma so much. This past July we went to a 10 day road trip from lake como to verona to venice to tuscany to genova to torino and although it was very tiring to change rooms almost every night, I enjoyed every pizza and gelato bite of the trip. My son got very intimidated by the crowds (oh the crowds) though.
Sounds like a fabulous trip! We are off to Italy next week and are going to Rome, Florence and Tuscany. We are hoping to do some of the big sites and hopefully the tours we have chosen work out. I am making a note of all your restaurant suggestions! ?
There are plenty of hotels in Bosa, but we spent the night in nearby Tresnuraghes. This was another area that felt undiscovered by tourists. We stayed at a great hotel called Maison Tresnuraghes, a restoration of two old houses with a huge garden. The hotel has a lovely restaurant, but we also tried out Pizzeria Ristorante Su Palatteddu, a short walk away from Maison Tresnuraghes, which was one of the best of the Sardinia road trip!
Have you ever taken the trenino verde. Wondering if it is worth my time. Macomer to Bosa looked interesting. Driving limits what the driver can see, thought it would be nice to do some train or bus trips.
Let me start by saying that our ill-fated road trip was largely due to our mistake. We had opted for an electric rental car, which, in hindsight, should have been an obvious error. While Norway has its fair share of charging stations, we were unfamiliar with electric cars, unaware of where to find said charging stations, and had failed to factor in the distance between charging stations and how much battery it would take to get there. We hit the road with a semi-charged car battery (mistake #1) and without downloading the necessary car charging apps (mistake #2).
This was our biggest mistake of the trip, one that found us stranded at a gas station for at least two hours, with limited Wi-Fi, waiting for an app to download so we could wait another hour for the car to charge as we watched valuable sunlight slowly fade. I had wanted to avoid driving at night, especially when our drive consisted of winding highways alongside the fjords, but our mistake found us with flaring tempers and raging car sickness, driving well past midnight along precarious roads.
My second mistake of the trip? Fløro. In planning our road trip between Bergen and Trondheim, I had decided on two cities to stopover: Fløro and Ålesund. While I knew Ålesund to be a tourist destination and a major port city for cruise ships, I knew nothing about Fløro. Ålesund is over 7 hours driving from Bergen, so I had looked for a city that could break up the drive, leading me to pick Fløro on a whim. The original plan had been for us to spend the night in Fløro and then leisurely continue on to Ålesund the next day, taking our time with the gorgeous views. Instead, we drove from Bergen to Fløro (a rather unremarkable drive) and continued on to Ålesund after dark, missing the vistas and making a mad dash for the ferries that connect drivers to Ålesund.
