This script will automatically setup our repository and install our GPG keys on your system, and provide webmin package for installation and easy upgrades in the future. The supported and tested systems are Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Alma, Rocky, Oracle, CentOS Stream, Fedora or Debian, Ubuntu, Kali.

If you installed it by specifying an installation directory parameter to setup.sh as the instructions above show, i.e. /usr/local/webmin, the original webmin-current directory can now be safely deleted.

If you are using the DEB version of webmin, first download the filefrom the downloads page , or run the command :wget _2.013_all.debthen run the command :dpkg --install webmin_2.013_all.debThe install will be done automaticallyto /usr/share/webmin, the administration username set toroot and the password to your current root password. You should nowbe able to login to Webmin at the URL :10000/. Or if accessing it remotely, replace localhost with your system's IP address.

If you like to install and update Webmin via APT, edit the /etc/apt/sources.list file on your system and add the line :deb sarge contribIf that file does not exist, instead create /etc/apt/sources.list.d/webmin.list containing :deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/jcameron-key.gpg] sarge contrib

The PGP key that the RPM packages for versions1.040 and above were signed with is also available, so that you can verifytheir integrity. Just add it to your GnuPG or PGP keyring and run the commandrpm --checksig webmin-2.013-1.noarch.rpm. If you are using RPMversion 4 or above, you will need to import the key into RPM's key database withthe command rpm --import jcameron-key.asc. Otherwise, you can rungpg --import jcameron-key.asc as root.

The minimal version of Webmin contains only the core API and programs, and afew modules required for its basic operation. Most modules and all themes havebeen left out, but can be easily added later. It can be useful if you onlyneed some of the programs functionality, and don't want to download the entiremulti-megabyte package. The 2.013 minimal tar.gz distribution can be downloadedfrom webmin-2.013-minimal.tar.gz

Ubuntu 16.04. Been running fine for years. Not sure of exact prior webmin version but it was only a couple updates behind. I had updated all my non important servers first with no issues. Then i get to main server and get perl error after login.
Update was successfull

Recently, without any significant changes that I'm aware of, I found that my webmin instance was not accessible. It simply said "connection refused" in chrome on the default port 10000. After checking the systemctl status, it appeared that the webmin service was still running (and in fact, all of my websites were still accessible), but using "netstat -tulpn" showed that nothing was listening on port 10000. Usermin on port 20000 was working just fine.

I ended up restarting the service, which worked, but less than 30 minutes later while I was doing normal things, I got a popup in webmin that said "lost connection." Upon refresh, the same thing was happening; nothing was listening on port 10000, usermin works fine, websites work fine, etc.

However, if one is serving a static site based on the domain name, using a dedicated folder for the site, the first call to webmin will work, but subsequent calls will result in a browser warning advising it cant connect due to a configuration error.

I am trying to setup a Webmin interface to experiment with my newly setup LAMP on a Raspberry Pi (running all the latest from the repositories in Arch-ARM). I have Arch running and just installed Apache, Mariadb and Php, i secured the mysql-installation from the command line, apache and php are running as well. Now I'm trying to setup webmin for easier administration.

Create a webmin user password like so: /usr/libexec/webmin/changepass.pl /etc/webmin root YOURPASSWORD. Then you can login as "root" with the password you set without adding a system-wide password to your machine root user.

I set up my UTM box quite a while ago, was able to log into the webmin portal and it was working just fine. After putting it away for some time (lab environment) I attempted to connect to the Webmin portal again and no matter what interface I plug into, the page is still unresponsive. I do not believe I made any configuration changes the last few times the device had been reloaded before this. I have performed several restarts in attempts to help, as well as restarting httpd via "/etc/rc.d/httpd restart". Nothing seems to help.

Simply try to run /etc/webmin/restart-by-force-kill command it will try to do it for you (to kill potentially stuck process and restart it). Also try using IP:PORT to access your Webmin. Tell me if that helped.

I tried to bind like you suggested but but it didn't help, and i've been using the FQDN and the IP directly back and forth. it just doesn't make sense, but I'm to the point this can't be webmin problem and it has to be me being blocked. I think I might just bag the Plesk server and run CentOS and only webmin to manage things. I just didn't want to have to start all over.

It was not necessary to do your old line 3, adding all the dependencies. The "apt-get -f install" will do all that after install the webmin package.
"dpkg -i" is way to go with install. It's just less typing.

Another great advantage of webmin is the easy install and config of as a module, which is the best firewall/security suite of scripts I've ever seen and used on linux servers. Sure, you can also install CSF standalone, but it's easier to maintain through webmin.

There are a number of modules ( what webmin calls plugins) that are useful in webmin. If you do not find a certain plugin you need in OMV it is a good place to check to see if they have one you might need. I use a module to manage Hylafax.

My issue now is that webmin is being accessed on :1000 and it works, but the browser doesn't support the certificate as "valid" - it says "not secure" and the https has a strike-through line over it and it's marked red.

If you're a purist, you can download the tarball from webmin.com, but doing so doesn't give you that much extra control over options. You can choose where to place a few files, but save yourself the effort on RHEL, CentOS, and Fedora by installing the RPM:

Yes, admin software that gives a graphic ui for tasks like user / group management or creating cron jobs. (I mention these as that's what I use it for, mostly)
It can do many other admin tasks.
As it is written in perl while OctoPrint is python they don't have many points of contact or possible conflict.
On the other hand I see no obvious reason to recommend installing webmin and use it for sys administration on a typical octopi/OctoPrint print host.

I have a CentOS7 virtualized in my testing homelab. I installed webmin along with Apache webserver and I can reach the webmin login page through the CentOS machine IP address on port 10000 (https). Now, I would like to setup an A record within my DNS server to point directly to webmin console.I read much this evening about Apache reverse proxy, I understand it does fit my needs but I could not figured out how working properly.I installed mod_ssl, created a Key and a Certificate files by openssl. Then, filled in the /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf file enabling a virtual host with these settings:
