heya ladies and 'germs'!

my housemate and i are hoping to make some daikon pickle to have with
sushi. not having done any pickling before, we were wondering if you
had any handy hints...

these are my handy pickling hints:
if you want crunchy pickles keep the vinegar cold.
if you want pickles that last for ages then boil it, but they will be soft.
boiling vinegar makes you cough.
don't let the vinegar touch the lid if its metal (it makes rustyness that gets in your pickles)
