Steam Mill Rd. took me up up and up again, gaining back all the elevation I had lost coming down Brooks Rd. I passed numerous xc ski trails, snow mobile trails, and a few hiking pull offs. At this point I stripped my knickers and added some Lantiseptic to my bottom, switched into shorts, ditched my vest, and had a snack. As I was sitting on the hillside along the road came two cyclists on hybrids, baskets on the front, gray hair flowing from under their helmets. I mumbled a hello with Clif bar stuffed in my mouth, then packed up to follow them. By the time I was rolling I could barely see them 1/4 mile away over the next rise, and only caught up to them at the intersection of the Natural Turnpike. We exchanged waves and I turned north, and up, towards South Lincoln.
9. Homefront: Phil Broker is a former DEA agent who wants to live a quiet life, but when he gets tangled up with a local meth dealer named Gator, his former life comes back. Statham is in top form and the script by Sylvester Stallone is awesome, plus James Franco as Gator is fun.
The Royal Muskoka Hotel was opened at the turn of the 20th century and was billed as the grandest summer resort in all of Muskoka, with room for 350 guests. Among its amenities: electric lighting, hot and cold running water, a post office, telegraph office, bar, billiard room, bakeshop, newsstand, barber shop and beauty salon. On the grounds (a little more than 50 hectares) was a golf-course, bowling greens, tennis courts, riding stables, and walking trails. It was a get-away for the rich and famous. But 50 years after it opened, in the spring of 1952, it burned to the ground, and its remains were summarily pushed into the lake.
It's all houses now . There is a small area that some are still hitting but it's under pressure also . I got a dualsport Beta 525 to start hitting some areas that can't be accessed without being street legal. It's pretty cool. Kahuku is the main game in town as helemano and haleiwa has it's pressures against trail riders. ..just too many people on a little island. The dualsport way seems to be pretty good . ..just got to go where others don't. That's the idea anyway. We are still hitting some areas of the old mililani trails but some have been fenced off for cattle or for housing development. One of the benefits of a recession was the cancelling of a large parcel of land set for housing development adjacent to mililani memorial park. It will come but just not for a bunch more years. It's sad too because it is such great agriculture land.
My Dad and Tony are still going. There are some dings and stuff from medical issues but still plugging along. Tony moved to the big island and is part of a group that help create a new riding park above Hilo. Tony's son is a hot rider and has won the Mauna kea 200 among other races. My Dad is retired and riding more road harley stuff but has a ktm450 exc street legal to go back doing light trails. You are lucky since that run to go eat shaved ice in Haleiwa doesn't happen anymore...too much traffic. Haleiwa is less country than it used to be and there is a large access road above that limits access. This is where the dualsport bikes come in to adjust. That crashed military plane trail is called " bombers trail" . I remember riding from behind the pineapple stand in wahiawa to the Kahuku track then bumming gas from friends then racing down to haleiwa to eat shave ice then barely making it back to wahiawa around 7pm. All the while racing everywhere through trails and pineapple field roads.
I hiked the side of the mountains from Makakilo up to Schofield Barracks one time. Those trails would be some awesome single track for riding, if you could do it. The first night we slept in a WWII bunker right outside of Makakilo, I don't see it on the map so it may have been demolished since then.
Love the youtube link. I watched all four vids. Is that you doing the riding? Those trails must not be used nearly as much as in days gone by, judging by the over growth, but damn those videos bring back memories. The rocks, the roots, and that damn red dirt. I still have some gear, and Hang On jerseys that are permanently stained from that stuff.
Another memory for me was riding the Cobra. That was a kickass ride, which I didn't finish. I had trouble in the morning getting tangled up in some trees on a downhill section, and later endoed while attempting to ride through a "small puddle" at speed. Turns out the damn thing was about two feet deep, and over the bars I went, with the RM dumping gas down my crotch through the vent tube. Let me tell ya, gas and your crotch don't mix, trust me.

That's not me in those vids. It had some of the kind of trails we were talking about though so I figured you'd like it . If you want to check out more hawaii local trail vids check my subscriptions and favorites on my channel . I got only one vid of me riding and it is of Mililani so you may recognize this.
i still live in pearl city, and just talking with my buds, we gotta go and see if some of the trails are still there. from the looks on google earth, there are grown over but still possible to follow some of them.
Spanning 20 farms in the Bottelary Hills Renosterveld Conservancy area just outside Stellenbosch, there lies a network of MTB trails. Think undulating hills, dusty farm roads, vineyards and gravelly singletracks. Heaven for riders everywhere. Plus, with 6 different routes to choose from, the trails are varied specifically to cater to all capabilities. You can count on finding an experience that meets your appropriate edge.
Nestled on the slopes of the Groenberg mountain near Wellington, the trails are mainly on single-track, winding through orchards, vineyards, pristine fynbos and past stunning waterfalls. In other words, they are definitely worth the little, 45-minute drive from the city centre.
National trails encompass historic, scenic, and recreational trails that are designated by Congress that provide interconnected trail networks that weave throughout the nation. As of the date of this post, there are 19 historic trails in America.
When your friends suggest you visit the park between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., propose instead the importance of planning ahead. Coming to Rocky between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. during the summer and fall can mean full parking lots, congested roads, busy trails, and long lines and wait times at entrance stations. This year the park has restricted vehicle access numerous times in the Bear Lake Road Corridor and Wild Basin Corridor due to congestion and full parking lots. Instead recommend hiking early or late. Check the weather forecast before you arrive at the park to better plan your day and destinations. If you plan to hike later in the day, it is critical that you know the weather forecast for the elevation of your destination. If possible, avoid weekends.
A few extra tips: camping in Rocky Mountain National Park requires a permit; it is illegal to feed wildlife in the park, big or small, this includes chipmunks and birds; stay on existing established trails, the increase of social trails is damaging the park's incredible resources; please leave no trace, this includes taking apple cores, orange peels and everything else you and your friend brought into the park with you, along with wonderful memories of your visit!
Starting in 1999, the UTV market was electrified by Polaris coming on the scene with their first SxS after dominating the market for snowmobiles. By 2010, Can-Am was hot on their trails. The difference between Can-Am Defender and Polaris Ranger or any of their vehicles is a tricky question.
For many, the Can-Am Commander has a better ride on well-tread, steady trails. The torsional trailing arms keep the camber ultra-steady in a variety of different environments. That very same camber is what makes revving higher through bumps and debris easier at higher speeds.
