Dear All,

The traffic at Nizampet x road has worsened after the Metro/footpath construction. This is because the space for U turn has reduced. Nizampet road users are having to travel about 1.1km extra and about 10 to 15 minutes extra time to take the U-turn after Karachi bakery. I requested the Traffic CI that given the changed situation the divider at Nizampet x road be removed and allow right turn to Nizampet road as traffic is anyway stopped for pedestrians to cross the road.

He felt the idea is worth considering and asked us to give a written request.

Please share your thoughts and ideas regarding this issue.

Hi Srinivas,

Of all the U-turns that I drive across daily in my commute to office-home, there is not-one that comes off as worse as the U-turn near Karachi Bakery in terms of congestion and time taken. Removing the divider and opening up the right turn into Nizampet Road is the ONLY solution. You may initiate a online signature campaign on Change.org for submission to the traffic police authorities.

It seems there is unanimous acceptance of the proposal. However, please let us think of any negative consequences so that we dont end up in a problem situation later.

We also need to consider the hindrances while exiting Nizampet road to the highway. When we approach the traffic authorities lets go with a consolidated request?

I think safety of pedestrians crossing road will have to be considered if the right turn is allowed for vehicular traffic. Probably encouraging pedestrians to use metro station is a better deal. Anyway the metro stations are supposed to be used as road crossings.

I had a discussion with Traffic CI - Sattiah Garu as well when few people met me about this & other traffic issues,  we have suggested him to keep another U turn before Vasanth nagar road....., so that there will be smooth traffic.

Right turn will be good option for all the people who commute towards Nizampet X Road, but  there seems to be restrictions on right turns at Highways.

It's a good initiative Srinivas Garu., We are with you.,

Hello Srinivas Sir,

Yes, taking a U-turn at Karachi Bakery has become an issue especially after the U-turn was further extended up to Chermas and there is Criss-Cross between the traffic coming from the service lane want to take U turn and traffic which wants to go straight on NH65 towards Lingampally.

Another U-turn close to Vasanth Nagar is a good idea but there is not enough buffer between the Vasanth Nagar Exit/Entrance (if U-turn is allowed) and Nizampet X Road signal so again there will be criss-cross between traffic taking U turn and going towards Nizampet and traffic going straight to KPHB side.

If only [one-way] right turn is allowed (for traffic coming from JNTU side) towards Nizampet then it would be useful, However, if a right turn is also allowed at Nizampet X road towards Lingampally then that will cause lots of traffic congestion by the traffic coming from Nizampet at  Nizampet X Road because the road is very narrow with autos standing at the corner, people crossing the road and traffic (especially 2-wheelers who would like to take right turn) will block the left side of the road restricting vehicular movement towards KPHB from Nizampet.

So, probably only single right turn at Nizampet X road for the traffic coming from KPHB should ease the situation, rest all U-turns can remain as they are.

Thanks, and we are with you for this campaign.

Thanks Srinivas for bringing this issue for discussion. I can understand the pain, even though I am not staying in that area now.

But adding another U turn before Vasanth Nagar may not solve the issue. It has metro footpath there also. More over U turn will be right under Metro station. Please think through this

Looks like allowing Right turn at junction is workable option as of now

That's a good idea. our support is assured.

However, the overall metro railings are very poorly planned and helps neither the pedestrians nor the vehicle users - and it is unclear such unfriendly designs/ plans have been approved and being implemented. It may be pertinent to look at it from a larger perspective to provide workable solutions overall - while the right turn may provide part of that solution.

Many thanks.

After our today's discussion these are the points came to my mind and would like to share
1. People coming from JNTU will take U turn at Nizampet X road to go to More Mega store. They will create big problem.
We can't stop them if we open the road at Nizampet X road divider.

2. People those who are coming from
Hyder nagar would like to go to Vasanth nagar will take U turn Nizampet X road.
This also cause a big problem.

If Heavy 4 wheeler vehicles try to take U turn it will create another big traffic problem at Nizampet Junction.

Saturday and Friday evenings we can't imagine the problem.
Just sharing

Sreeedhar garu raised very good points.

Once the junction is opened you cannot stop people taking U turn there, Either going to Total store or Vasanth Nagar.

Please think through before implementing this change

Good idea and I fully support. But traffic police will not open right turn to Nizampet road as it will block traffic till jntu. Autos at x roads is the biggest problem for smooth flow if traffic. That was the concern raised by traffic police earlier. We should ask for wider road near Karachi bekari for u turn..or a signal.
Usually tax payers money is used to solve problems. But in our case we bought new problems. City buses never use the new bus bays near Total store that were constructed with taxpayers money. Traffic police stands there with camera to fine people but they never tell the bus drivers to use the bays. This is blocking traffic till Holistic hospital.

Educated people park cars opposite holistic hospital blocking U turn near Navarang store.
We should ask police atleast to put a "NO Parking 100 meters" board so people afraid to park cars.

No value for life in Nizampet road. Some one gets a heart stroke in Nizampet village or Bachupalli..Nearest hospital is Holistic and I bet ambulance cannot make a to and fro trip within an hour...Not sure if that's the reasonable time a person gets during an emergency.
Most of the residents are IT guys paying huge taxes without guarantee of an ambulance reaching on time.
Think seriously as the problem will only get worse...

How about naming our road as IVANKA KCR road or IVANKA CBN road...Just to get attention and tweeting KTR. Old formula but might work.

Hope I didn't write too many issues.
I am ready to spend time to get solutions to some of these.

Hi Srinivas

First of all, thank you for all the efforts you take in making the infra, amenities, etc better for us.  Kudos and keep it going.

As you know I have been in the area (and using the Nizampet road) for the last 9 years .  During the initial years when it was a 4 way with traffic signal at the Nizampet-NH9 junction, the outbound traffic (i.e. those going from Nizampet towards JNTU/Miyapur) used to be blocked for quite a while.  the time taken from Nizampet village onto the NH9 highway (either towards JNTU or Miyapur), used to be 20 minutes on an average and sometimes more than 30 minutes.

But, ever since Metro, with the removal of the 4-way and having the U-turns, it has pleasantly reduced drastically.  Now it takes me 5-10 minutes depending on traffic for the same stretch.

My guess as to why the 4-way signal didn't work is probably the smaller road width (of Nizampet road) at the junction.

Even the right turn into Nizampet road used to take a while and worse blocked the NH9 road causing lot of agitation.

This is from my personal experience and may not be scientific, but I request you to not take this further without full validation that this will indeed benefit us.

Many hanks again for all your efforts, good luck and we sure will continue to support any & all such efforts.

Hello,

Appreciate all your efforts Srinivas and the opportunity to debate options.

I too am staying in this area for over a decade and echo the similar sentiments aired by Kiran. The U turns have increased the distance but have reduced the time drastically.

I think there are two problems:
1) Traffic exiting from Nizampet Road into Highway
2) Traffic entering from Highway into Nizampet Road.

#1) is caused because of traffic entering into the service road leading to More Mega Store. This blocks us (the traffic that is trying to get onto the highway). An alternate could be that entry into the service road to More Mega store is closed from Highway.

Regards, Rajesh.

It seems that everyone of the group member is busy in one or other act.

But our issues are getting piled up every day.

Still the issue of traffic at nizampet junction (going towards kukatpally) not resolved. Anytime of the day this getting worse. The main reason is of exit to main road.

At the same time the road condition is deteriorated beyond imagination. If travel towards nizampet Road, mostly you all be facing the worst time. I seen few accidents on the same stretch.

I think time has come to take it very seriously and bring to the notice of politicians or government officials.

I have been following regularly with them but except promises nothing is moving further.

The entire Nizampet road from the highway till Bachupalli is horrible. Really makes me wonder why we have to keep up with such shoddy roads, such poor public transport for this area.

We are in such a hugely populated area and most of us working professionals paying good amount of taxes.

Anything we want to get done requires us to protest. How many times can we keep protesting? Is there no permanent solution?

Really it's very pathetic and painful.
Seen few accidents and fights quite often.

Also shared a message to Mr KTR but no movement from rubbish R and B team. On the contrary every where Road digging for Cable laying that makes road more dangerous and virtually reduced to single lane both side.

Every now n then this digging goes on. I am of the strong opinion that these officials are also making money out of it.

Let's call media and block the road including national highway to give the clear message to ministry.
And also make our local politicians to run for their vote.

At the same time every member of the group has to call and demand the status from these inefficient people (R&B).

Request all members to please do something as one day we or our family members may meet with some kind of accidents and need to pay heavy price.

I know some may raise questions on my views but that's the reality..

PLEASE COME OUT OF OUR SHELL FOR THE SAKE OF CHILDREN..

*Sub: Bad plight of Nizampet Road*

Nizampet Road is identified in master plan as Link Road from ORR to JNTU with 100’ width.
It is now 60’ wide only.
Even this 60’ width is now reduced to almost half at certain places due to
1. Digging of road to lay cables/ water lines. No agency: HMWSSB/ R&B / Panchayat is taking responsibility to recover the road that is dug.
2. Encroachments
3: Street hawkers occupying road
4. Heavy Damages to road due to rains

Sir, As you are aware this area is having high density of middle & low middle class employees who commute every day to work at Hitec city & elsewhere.
Also there  are number of schools & colleges in Bachupally area and all school & college buses ply on this road.
As a result there are huge traffic congestions on this road specially during peak hours. There is absolutely no way to avoid traffic since there are no parallel roads.
Even ambulance with patients can not move since theee is room for only one vehicle to ply on this road.

Public is severely suffering.

Matter was brought to the notice of  R&B Executive Engineer & his team multiple times but invain.

You are our fond hope Sir.

We earnestly request you to kindly instruct concerned to
1. Repair & recover the road
2. Expand to 100’ width as per plan

Kind Regards 🙏🙏🙏

I created a new #NizampetRoadTraffic and tagged KTR and GHMCOnline.
Please use that hashtag and post your messages in Twitter.

Dear all,

Let's keep this momentum what Mr Ratna sir, Srinivas and Sreehari initiated.
Every one has to put efforts jointly to overcome this situation.

Basing my complaint to KTR & Engineer in Chief, temporary Repair world are in progress - personally supervised by DE (lady in the picture) She only sent me the pictures.
BT in entire road is also approved. Shall be taken up soon as informed to me
