Respected Sir

As we have been bringing to your kind notice and also to the notice of your senior officers, the pollution is unbearable leading to serious health hazards to people living in Miyapur, Bachupally, Nizampet & Kukatpally areas.

In this note we would like to bring to your notice that during the stay of Honourable President of India at Hyderabad during last week of December 16 the pollution was hardly felt. Now that he left Hyderabad the pollution menace resumed once again as it used to be. This was the experience we had during the past visits of President of India to Hyderabad

This clearly demonstrates that the pollution is controllable.

Sir - we leave it to your judgement as to how this is happening. We earnestly request you to take stern action on the culprits who are responsible to cause this perennial pollution menace to public.

Kind Regards
Ratna Gopal

Dear Sir

The pollution was simply unbearable yesterday night. It was there all through the night to some degree. The intensity was very high for 3 hours from 7 pm and later for two hours from 2.30 am.

To say  the least it was simply horrible. It covered areas of Miyapur Bachupally upto BHEL

I personally informed both zonal officers and also to Mr Viswanatham and Mr Ravinder

We can only earnestly request you once again to save public by taking stern actions on errant industry.

Kind Regards
Ratna Gopal

Respected Sir,

While we are conscious of the actions of PCB officers for additional patrolling, the pollution menace stopped for the last four days. We sincerely thank you for this.

Thus it is evident that this pollution menace can be controlled.

We also realise that the ongoing additional patrolling units can not continue for ever.

Thus the  concern is that the pollution might revive soon after the current measures of patrolling are withdrawn.

We earnestly request your good self to advise your officers to initiate stern actions on the identified errant industries so that others would also be careful.

I am attaching the coverage in TOI of today on pollution for your kind information

Kind Regards
Ratna Gopal

Respected Sir

As communicated to you in person followed by two e mails recently , we are once again bringing to your  kind notice that the citizens living at Miyapur Nizampet & Bachupally are suffering all through out nights since two weeks due to pollution

The pollution is so heavy with release of pungent gases, we are not able to come out of the houses and have to close all doors & windows. The cases of allergic bronchitis have increased in these areas recently.

Your officers are well informed of the situation and acknowledged the problem. But the solution is not found out since they say that the culprits are not identified.

We leave to your judgement and earnestly request you to help us and save lives of people residing in these areas which are affected by pollution.

Kind Regards
Ratna Gopal

Dear Satyanarayan garu,
The stench this morning is so pungent and unbearable that I am not able to step out of my house nor am in a position to open windows  in BHEL MIG colony.    The government  has passed G.O. MS 20 (Please find attached) almost four years back , which if implemented would solve the problem permanently.   Following is an excerpt from the G.O :

"In the reference 1st read above, a Meeting was convened on 24.03.2012 with the representatives of Industry Associations and Industrial Area Associations to discuss the issues related to the shifting of polluting industries from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation(GHMC) areas to outside the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and some decisions were taken regarding Shifting of industries from GHMC areas to outside the Outer Ring Road (ORR), Development of New Industrial Areas outside Outer Ring Road (ORR), Land use conversions in the existing Industrial Areas and Status of Industrial Area Local Authorities (IALA)"

I would request you to use your good offices to expedite implementation of this G.O. at the earliest as it would resolve the issue permanently.

Thank You,
Yours Sincerely,
Uma Mahesh

Dear Sir,

I totally agree with Sh Ratna Gopal.

Today the smell in ambient air is 'unbearable' and I can say 'unbearable' is an understatement !

I am sorry to say that in spite of so many representations, public uproar since 6 yrs+, nothing much has been done by TSPCB.

We all are Citizens while President is the 'first' Citizen, we all have rights to fresh air [ thanks to Air Act, Env Protection Act]

1) TSPCB has outsourced certain work to EPTRI, the report and conclusions of the same may be made available to us.

2) Have your officers / scientists ever thought of using Meteorological Data, Micro-Meteorological Data (wind speed, direction), Ambient Air Quality Modeling to boil down to a smaller area to nail down the culprit /'s ?

3) Air samples have been collected in tedlar bags to be analysed by GC-MS. So what is the name/'s of the probable pollutant ?

4) TSPCB also has CFE & CFO details of products, raw materials being used at these industries, besides mass / material balance.

Has any analysis been done to connect the dots from above info ?

If you don't have a name for this pollutant even after 6 yrs, how are we going to know the health impacts ?

If TSPCB has not done any of the above things, I request you to constitute a multi- disciplinary committee which can draw experts from Micro-Met, AAQ Modeling, Env & Chem  Engineers, Scientists from Env Chemistry, Env Lab., Representatives from Industrial Associations & Affected Residents..

Appreciate if you can look into the same ASAP.

Thanks & Rgds,

Dear Sir

Pls refer to the mail chain below. The saga seems to be never ending.

I must say that there was no pollution for a couple of weeks.

Since three days it has started again in big way - same gas released - same time at around 8.30 pm and 7 am. This was brought to the notice of senior officers of Pollution.

While it is happening on consecutive days no proactive steps are taken in spite of our request to the senior officers.

We once again request you to take stern action on errant industries and save public. There are more than 10 lakhs people suffering due to this pollution menace in the areas - Miyapur Nizampet Bachupally & adjoining areas.

Best Regards
Ratna Gopal

P.S: while we don't get any response to our numerous mails it is presumed that these mails are put up for your perusal at least and drawing your kind attention.

Dear Sir

There seems to be no end to our sufferings.

For the last three days the pollution is so  heavy extending upto Kondapur.  It starts at 8.30 pm and lasts for a couple of hours. The same smell repeats same time of the evening. What more is required to identify the culprit

We get the usual response from PCB. The survey team was informed and they will visit. Obviously they come over late and by the time they arrive there would be no pollution.

This is becoming more of a eye wash exercise.

This in a way is testing the patience of the public who are suffering resulting  in pennant damage to the health of our families

We earnestly request you to take stern measures to penalise the errant industries

Best Regards
Ratna Gopal
