Once testing is complete, you can leave a review about your webcam. This is not required, but we encourage you to do so in order to help other people to purchase a good webcam and get around the bad ones. In addition, after publishing your review, you will see how good is your compared camera to others.
To test your camera, all you need is a modern browser (unfortunately, Internet Explorer does not belong to them) that supports features for accessing media devices. As you noticed, this webcam testing tool does not require any additional software like Adobe Flash, Microsoft Silverlight or browser add-ons.

If there are no updates for your camera, try to select Advanced options > Optional updates, and look for any driver updates for your camera. Allow available updates to install, then restart your device when it's ready.

Some laptops and portable devices have a physical switch or button that turns the camera on or off. When it's turned off, your device may not recognize that there's a camera installed, or it may cause your camera to show an image of a camera with a slash through it. If your laptop has a switch or button, make sure it's in the on position before using your camera.

Most available USB webcams are UVC (standard USB Video Class) compatible cameras. They will work with the UVC driver that is included in Windows (the in-box UVC driver). If your webcam is not working correctly, swapping to the in-box UVC driver may resolve the issue. Please follow the steps below to change drivers (admin rights are required).

The privacy shutter slider is located on the top edge of the tablet, just above the camera. Moving this slider will close or open the shutter both in the front- and back-facing cameras at the same time. You will know that your webcam is covered when you see the striped pattern of the shutter instead of the webcam as shown in the picture below.
I have lost use of my in-built webcam and can no longer find it in my device manager (even if I try to restore legacy hardware). I have not installed any new software or updates recently. I have checked my privacy settings and reinstalled all my drivers from the HP site and the problem still persists. In desperation I have also completely reset my computer by reinstalling windows but there is still no sign of the camera! Does anyone have any other ideas????
Open Device Manager. Navigate to Imaging devices. If there is no imaging device, then no camera modem is configured or there may be a camera hardware failure. Then right-click Imaging devices and select Scan for hardware change.
We develop a lot of overlay menus for AR and often are relying on still images to simulate a camera feed in the background. When using the Figma Mirror App, it would be amazing to let specific screens gain access to the devices camera and be used as an overlay on top of the camera feed.
If the Figma team manages to implement something like this to help represent camera viewfinders, it would put them ahead of the game in my opinion, since none of the top prototyping tools that I know of account for this.
I noticed since yesterday whenever I start a game on Geforce now the light for the camera turns on. I looked to check if I can disable the camera permissions for the app but it didnt show up. The only app claiming to use the camera is WavesSysSvc which came pre installed with my Windows 10. Sometimes it seems to turn off for no reason but it always comes on if I start a game. Turning of permissions for all apps seems to have solved this but it just looks a bit fishy to me. Anyone else experience this? Made sure to also report this in the feedback section.
To use your Mac's built-in camera, open an app with camera access. For example, open an app such as FaceTime, or turn on a feature that uses your Mac's camera. You'll see a green light that indicates your camera has successfully turned on.

Adjust your laptop till the laptop camera picks up the picture you want to capture, such as your face or a specific area. You will view the picture on a preview screen on your laptop, much like a digital camera. Most laptop cameras automatically try to focus on faces within the laptop camera framing. If this feature is not allowed on your camera, it may focus on the object nearest to its range, or it may focus on an area of bright light.
