Understanding the basic principles of feng shui is vitally important
if you want to use it in your home. You have to learn the various
methods for getting the proper flow of chi around your property. Feng
shui is based on the principle that the proper physical arrangement of
the furniture in your home can bring you good luck and prosperity.
When done according to the rules of feng shui you can expect to have
harmony, peace and loads of good luck while bad placement could bring
you just the opposite.
Feng Shui comes from a set of ancient Chinese beliefs. Its core
principle is to optimize the flow of chi by properly positioning
objects inside and outside the home. It's said that a good flow of chi
will bring good luck, happiness and better health to everyone inside
the home. On the other hand, blocked or dead chi is often related to
misfortune and illnesses.
It is impossible to become a feng shui expert overnight, especially
since incorporating these principles into your home demands a careful
study into the geography and orientation of the property itself. You
also have to determine several different aspects such as the Chinese
zodiac sign and the lucky number of each household member. There's a
plethora of factors you have to take into consideration in order to
achieve the 'perfect' or ideal feng shui setup at home.
But even without all the study and theory, you can still use the
principles in your home with a few basic rules. These include the
proper positioning of doors and windows: remember that chi cannot exit
the same way it entered, so a back door and a window in every room is
crucial. Mirrors are also important elements in feng shui because they
can be used to alter the path of chi. Chairs and tables also should
never be placed under beams.
Trusting your instincts while rearranging furniture will more or less
help you determine if the room feels right or not for you. With a good
feng shui book and a little trial and error, you should soon find the
perfect combination that brings harmony to your home.
Even small trinkets and decorative items can have big effects on the
feng shui of your house. Animal figurines such as horses and mandarin
ducks are usually a safe option; horses signify success in your
career, while mandarin ducks symbolize loyalty.
Color is also a major factor: red, for example, is often a lucky color
in feng shui. Try a large red area rug in the living room or main
bedrooms. If the color clashes with the current decor, try using
bamboo rugs. These are considered safe choices as they also add to the
calm and serene ambiance to your home. Besides, its neutral color and
texture will be sure to match with any type of interior design theme.
While there's nothing wrong with following the rules of feng shui for
your home, always keep in mind that it is only a guide to enhancing
good luck and positive vibes. Whether its success in your career or in
redecorating your house, it is only hard work and patience that will
guarantee success.
