Rooster figure on Office Table

Hi,

I had a rooster bronze figure on my office table (left over by someone
who used to sit on my desk). It was facing out, towards to common
walkway. (my desk is in a common office partition, with 2 tables
sharing a square partition. Was told that it was suppose to 'ward off
evil'.
Is it true, and is it ok to leave it there and my zodic sign hare,
will it cause any compatibility issues ?
