Dear Friend,
“How can we hold hope in these hard moments?”

This was a question that José Rutilio, a speaker from CBC (Fundación Centro Bartolomé de Las Casas/ The Bartolomé de las Casas Center and Foundation), asked at our Solidarity Encounter about healing last November.

José Rutilio from CBC continued,
“Conditions are very hard… At the same time, we find hope… to fill ourselves with strength and transform all the fear into resistance to strengthen collective work…”

In this moment, it can be challenging to maintain a discipline of hope. And yet, it is so necessary for our collective work.

Join us on Friday, April 24 to learn more about the launch of the Martín-Baró Giving Circle for Healing & Wellbeing, which builds upon decades-long work accompanying grassroots organizations advocating for human rights and community wellbeing.
Ignacio Martín-Baró was a social psychologist and Jesuit priest committed to human rights, collective healing, and liberation. He was murdered while working to support those affected by armed conflict in El Salvador.

Martín-Baró Giving Circle for Healing & Wellbeing Open House
Friday, April 24, 12 - 1:30 pm ET / 9 - 10:30 am PT
Flyer for MBI Open House
(Grassroots International logo in top left corner with “Open House” in blue text, followed by a blue icon of a heart on top of an open hand, “Martín-Baró Giving Circle for Healing & Wellbeing Open House” in green text, three images from left to right: two people wearing maroon shirts in front of a LGBTQ flag, four women wearing purple tops and blue skirts facing the trees in the background and arms linked, a group of people wearing orange shirts dancing, “Friday, April 24, 12-1:30 pm ET/ 9-10:30 am PT” in blue text, all on peach color background)
This Giving Circle is an extraordinary opportunity to support healing as a form of political resistance and self-determination. As a participant of the Giving Circle, you will learn and mobilize resources towards the healing and wellbeing work of social movements. It will also include an opportunity to join a delegation to Guatemala in November for an in-person immersion into the healing and wellbeing work of our partners.

If this sounds interesting to you, I invite you to RSVP for the Open House today to learn more

I hope you can join us next Friday,

PS: As Ignacio Martín-Baró used to say, “Recovering historical memory is not about returning to the past, but about opening pathways of hope for the future… Let’s join hands to build collectivities that fill us with hope.” Will you join us to open pathways of hope for the future?

PPS: Check out this blog post, featuring a video clip from the Solidarity Encounter, to hear more reflections from our grantees about healing and wellbeing.
