Subject: Join a WOC watch party for the Archbishop of Canterbury's installation!
Date: March 24, 2026 at 11:35:23 AM EDT

Hello Mary,

Tomorrow is a feminist-faith trifecta: The Solemnity of the Annunciation, the annual World Day of Prayer for Women's Ordination, and—the installation of Dame Sarah Mullally as the first female Archbishop of Canterbury in the Anglican Church!

Celebration is prayer—and in that spirit, our offering for the world Day of Prayer for Women's Ordination is a watch party for the new Archbishop's installation!

Join us on Zoom at 11 a.m. ET/3 p.m. GMT for a casual space where you can watch the livestream with other supporters of women's ordination. We'll keep our conversation to the chat, so feel free to keep your video off and pop in and out as you are able! You can register here.

This is the perfect day to be reminded, as the Annunciation story does, that nothing is impossible with God. It marks a powerful moment not only for the church, but for the world—especially for women and girls who see in this historic milestone a clear sign that women can, should, and do lead in ordained ministry. What was once deemed impossible is now reality, and for that, we rejoice.

For equality,

Women's Ordination Conference Welcomes Archbishop Sarah Mullally

For Immediate Release (23 March 2026)

The Women’s Ordination Conference celebrates the historic installation of Sarah Mullally as Archbishop of Canterbury, the first woman to hold this role in its 1,400-year history. We honor the countless courageous advocates within the Anglican Communion whose faith and persistence helped open hearts and doors to women’s ordination. Their witness remains vital as the church enters this new chapter.

We offer our prayers for Archbishop Mullally’s ministry at a challenging moment for our world and welcome her leadership in strengthening ecumenical dialogue and deepening solidarity in our shared call to ensure all vocations can flourish in service of the Gospel.

For decades, the Women’s Ordination Conference has prayed and worked toward such a “stained-glass-ceiling-breaking” moment within the Roman Catholic Church. We find hope in witnessing the Anglican Church more fully recognize the vocations and gifts of women, and we will continue to call for the day that Catholic women, too, will experience the same rites and dignity.

Today marks a powerful moment not only for the church, but for the world—especially for women and girls who see in this historic milestone a clear sign that women can, should, and do lead in religious life. What was once deemed impossible is now reality, and for that, we rejoice.

The Women’s Ordination Conference will commemorate its 50th anniversary with a gathering from May 22–24, 2026—a moment to celebrate resilience and renew the persistent call for gender equality in the Roman Catholic Church.

WOC board nominations

Applications are open until April 7th! Join the WOC Board!

If you would like to be considered for nomination to the Board or would like to nominate someone, please complete an online application. Nomination applications are due Tuesday, April 7, 2026 with personal interviews conducted in May. The new Board member term begins in the fall of 2026.

We encourage all our members and friends to give this opportunity to serve prayerful consideration! Help WOC continue to act in courageous and prophetic ways to create a discipleship of equals in the Board itself, in the organization at large and in the patriarchal Roman Catholic Church.

There is still time to register for WOC's 50th anniversary conference!

Together we will embark on a pilgrimage to honor the feminist thought-leadership of our 1975 landmark gathering and *energize* our movement for the future.

Take action for Vocations Sunday this April 26th!

Every year on "Vocations Sunday," the institutional church prays for an increase in vocations, particularly for vocations to the priesthood.

We respond that there are plenty of vocations, and we take action to lift up the sincere and authentic  vocations of women and nonbinary people to ordained ministry.

This year, our theme is “Be not afraid!”, and our meaning is twofold:

It is a call to the hierarchy to stop acting out of fear of change or threats to their place of power; and it is encouragement to all of us to stand without fear as we fight for what we know is Gospel justice and the movement of the Holy Spirit.

So join us on Sunday, April 26 to encourage church leaders and remind yourself: Be not afraid!
