One new Linux Mint adoptee friend has been using PhotoShop with Windows for years is
now on Linux and has been having trouble easily adjusting to GIMP.

So I am asking anyone who is into photo editing for suggestions for software that would run on Mint
that might be intuitive to use?  He will see your responses.

Cheers,
Bob

I am not an expert but I googled "gimp for photoshop users" and found all sorts
of stuff that looks interesting.  For example, this discusses PhotoGIMP that can
be downloaded from github:

And this is a 10-minute video that steps through steps you
can take to customize GIMP so that it looks more like Photoshop --
or maybe even better:

Lots of other stuff there -- hopefully you'll find something there that works for you.

GIMP is the defacto noncommercial photo editing program for Linux, Windows and Macintosh.

It is no more difficult to use than Photoshop to a new user.

Unfortunately, someone who has a large amount of experience with Photoshop would likely find transitioning to virtually any software which was functionally equivalent to Photoshop.  They changed the names of many of the functions and that was probably due to  a desire to avoid lawsuits.  However, when I made the transition, I learned just one technique at a time as they were equivalent, but using different commands.

PS and GIMP can do most of the same things and they are very complex techniques.

There are books available to make the learning easier.
