Dear Fells Dog Owners,

I received an e-mail from Representative Jason Lewis's office regarding the Town of Winchester's new policy allowing public recreational access on the North Reservoir trail in the Middlesex Fells on a trial basis through November.  Those who visit the Winchester town lands in the Fells have seen the new signs.

Douglas Marmon, Chair of the Winchester Board of Selectmen, has reached out to Representative Lewis to explain that Winchester town employees are not favorably inclined toward the new policy.  Marmon anticipates that they will be inclined to report the negative or unsavory events. He is urging Fells-goers to remember that this opening is a trial which must be reviewed in November, and to please, please, please communicate positive feedback to the Winchester Selectmen about the North Reservoir so that they have a mandate to continue the policy of public trail access.

Please spread the word: Positive feedback and expressions of gratitude--especially, but not exclusively, from Winchester residents--may be sent to the Winchester Town Manager, Richard Howard, and any of the selectmen (and women!): James A. Johnson III, Douglas Marmon, Jennifer Wilson, Forrest Fontana and Lance Grenzeback.  Contact information follows.

I also encourage you to send a special note of thanks to Douglas Morman to thank him for being proactive to save public recreational access on the North Reservoir trail!

Enjoy the trails!

Best,
Michele
