Postdoctoral opportunity in Molecular Biophysics

A postdoctoral position is available starting from July 1st 2021 in the Department of Biological Science, Division of Cell and Molecular Biology (https://www.bio.fsu.edu/and the Institute of Molecular Biophysics (http://biophysics.fsu.edu/ ) in Florida State University, Tallahassee. The recruited postdoctoral candidate will participate in a cutting-edge research program that aims to improve our understanding of the nuclear transport mechanisms hijacked by viral pathogens such as HIV-1, including nuclear pore usage and the compartmentalization of sub viral complexes in the nucleus. A variety of approaches including genomics, live-cell imaging and fluorescence guided correlative cryoEM are implemented to gain critical insights into the virus/host interactions. The postdoctoral candidate will have ample opportunity to learn these techniques and will also participate in ongoing collaborative research with leading investigators in the retrovirology field.

Eligibility and Application: Applicants should have a Ph.Ddegree (or near completion) preferably in biochemistry, molecular biology or related field in the biological sciences. Experience in live-cell imaging techniques, cryoEM and/or genomics techniques (Hi-C; TSA-Seq) is highly desired. Exceptional candidates with a background in computer sciences and interested in implementing AI assisted machine learning for fluorescence or cryoEM image analysis will be considered. Applicants are invited to contact Dr. Francis(acfr...@fsu.eduwith a CV and the names of three references.
