INTRO:

When you think of the word disobedience, what sort of things come to mind. A child not listening to their parents. Breaking the law. From a religious standpoint disregarding our Father's will. Doing what you are not supposed to do. Going against nature. The opposite of doing what we are supposed to do. Just as people we are all sinners we also find ourselves enveloped in this condition of disobedience from time to time. There are all kinds of levels of disobedience and many different types of disobendience and most of them we can all safely say that we are familar with. For instance say it is late at night and you are on your way home from concert, sporting event or even a late night Church service and even though you know that speeding is illegal and there are speed limit signs all over the road to remind you we choose to go faster than the speed limit because we feel that we will make it home faster and that getting there minutes earlier will make a world of difference in your mind. You can't wait to get home to watch the game or TV. Perhaps you would like nothing more than to just sit on your fat butts and do absolutely nothing when you get home. Maybe you are in a hurry get to your families or you just want to get home no matter what the cost is. Remember HOME? We did a sermon on the topic a few weeks ago. Regardless of your reasons for disobeying the speed laws for some selfish reason you are willing to ignore the risks which are that you will be caught on camera and sent a ticket in the mail, a hiway patrol officer will pull you over or even much worse you may injur or kill somebody, including yourself in an accident. But no, you are simply to much in a hurry to consider the consequences and you are going to do what you want to do. And all in all you might save a minute or two what do you care as long as you get home. Right?

SIMILE:

When I was a young kid and in junior high way back around the late 80's I thought I would be a cool kid and take up smoking. Whether it was curiosity or I just wanted to impress my friends either way I was willing to smoke with complete disregard for not only civil law which says it is illegal for a minor to smoke but I was also breaking GOD's law. Now I don't mean that It's a mortal sin if we choose to smoke cigarettes , maybe it's a sin against your health but that is not what I am getting at. What does the 10 commandments say: To honor your Father and Mother Right? Well my parents also forbid me to smoke and they said if I ever chose to do so the punishment would be severe. So just like the guy who wants to speed on the freeway to get home faster I also was willing to accept the concequences and Disobey my parents and by doing so I was disobeying God. Needless to say I eventually got caught by my parents and was put on restriction, embarassed and told I could no longer hang out with my friends that also smoked. I remember like yester day my friend from school whom I skated with and smoked showed up at my door to hang out and My mother told him that I could no longer be friends with him....the next day at school I got jumped by all of my friends who smoked for being a narc. That is the coloquial term for being a tattle tale at the time. Basically my whole world crashed down upon me and I had nowhere I could turn....I simply had to start over and hopefully walk away from the whole situation with a lesson learned. Don't be disobedient for there are consequences.

HARMONY:

There are consequences for everthing that we do especially if you are an adult and that is why it is o important to learn when you are young. You parents out there who believe in sparing the paddle and spoiling your children are doing them more harm than good. You are making there adult life much more difficult and unfortunately they will learn most of there lessons while they are adults. They will have no examples to learn from, no memories of the consequences for their actions just a hard knock life spent in jail or perhaps a life that lead them into an early death. You might be thinking what are you trying to get at Pastor Josh? What I'm am trying to get at is that for every action their is a reaction and unless you are programed with the right information you gonna go down a long road to failures. This concept can even apply to churches. Those churces out their that accept homosexuality, those churches that subscribe to political corret ideologies, those that are slaves to humanistic thinking. Those churches that blow like a reed shaking in the wind never having a solid foundation in the word. Those churches that serve you with happy meal type sermons and preach salvation and keep the truth from you that there will be tribulation, that you will be hated for your faith in Jesus Christ that many of you will even die for holding true to the testimony of Jesus Christ. Those churches that are luke warm or that ignore the Old testament and act like the Bible is made up of two different GOD's the old one and the new what... What the hell is that? There is only one true God and it is His law that we must abide by his word that we must listen to and it is Faith that going to help us overcome any stumbling blocks that we pass along the road of our lives. A church serves one purpose and that is to teach GOD's word...that is, to rightly divide the word so that you may have a foundation to build upon. Do you want to build your house on a rock or are you gonna be an idiot and build it in the sand waiting for the slights wind to knock you flat on your ass? I'm sorry if you think I am being harsh but you people out there need to wake up before it is to late. Are you gonna be satisfied with a happy meal or would you rather have been fed on the true milk and meat and drink that latter rain while you appear before the great white throne of judgement? So Enough of my talking lets get into our Father's word But before we do let us open up in prayer...

DEFINTION: Disobedience is to rebel against authority and let us see what the scriptures have to say about this important subject....

Please open up your Bibles to the book of Genesis Chapter 3...

Now the bible recognizes 3 specific sources of disobedience

  1. Tempation From Satan

  2. Lust of the Flesh

  3. Rebellion against recognized authority.

Let us first look at temptation from Satan The book of Genesis Chapter 3 verses1-19, your all familiar with this story but it does't hurt to go through it again there is much we can learn...

Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Gen 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

Gen 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Gen 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

Gen 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

Gen 3:9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

Gen 3:10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

Gen 3:11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

Gen 3:12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

Gen 3:13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

Gen 3:14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

Gen 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

Gen 3:18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

Gen 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

The lust of the flesh can cause someone to be disobedient lets turn to the book of James chapter chapter 1 verses 13-22

Jas 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

Jas 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Jas 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Jas 1:16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.

Jas 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Jas 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Jas 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

Jas 1:20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

Jas 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

Jas 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

There are a couple places in scripture concerning how rebellion can lead us into disobedience...Turn with me first to The book of numbers Chapter 20 verses 10-24

Num 10:10 Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.

Num 10:24 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Benjamin was Abidan the son of Gideoni.

Even though we had mentioned previously some consequences for disobeience in relation the different casuses of disobedience let us look more closely at what happends when we disobey GOD so that we may learn why we should fear HIM and take his Word more seriously...Turn with me to Romans Chapter 5 verse 12-19

Here we are going to see Death being the consequence for disobedience...

Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Rom 5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

Rom 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

Rom 5:15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

Rom 5:16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.

Rom 5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

Rom 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

Rom 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

In 1 Peter 3:2 We see that the flood was the brought on by disobedience and even worse in Numbers 14:26-39 We see the exclusion from the promised land so lets turn to Numbers 14:26

Num 14:26 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

Num 14:27 How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.

Num 14:28 Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:

Num 14:29 Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me,

Num 14:30 Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

Num 14:31 But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised.

Num 14:32 But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness.

Num 14:33 And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.

Num 14:34 After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.

Num 14:35 I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.

Num 14:36 And the men, which Moses sent to search the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up a slander upon the land,

Num 14:37 Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD.

Num 14:38 But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived still.

Num 14:39 And Moses told these sayings unto all the children of Israel: and the people mourned greatly.

When you disobey GOD He may turn His back on you and you may be defeated in a fight that you would have normall won with GOD on your side. Let us turn to Judges 2:2 as well as verses 1-15

Jdg 2:2 And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?

Skip ahead to verse 11

Jdg 2:11 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:

Jdg 2:12 And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.

Jdg 2:13 And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.

Jdg 2:14 And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.

Jdg 2:15 Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.

Outright doom is what you may be faced with as a consequence of your disobedience to GOD Lets go to I Peter2:7-11...

1Pe 2:7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

1Pe 2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

1Pe 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

1Pe 2:10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

1Pe 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

CONCLUSION:

So if you want to avoid, death, doom, destruction, defeat, plagues, curses and a life of hell the recipe for success is simple obey GOD. By obeying civil authority, our parents, laws, stautes, ordinances, guildelines examples and by obeying our parents we can all take part in the blessings that our Father has in store. Just look at the example we see when God asked Abraham to sacrifice His beloved son Issac. Abraham was tried, tested and blessed with a everlasting covenant that applies to you and me today. Obey our Father stay in His will and we will be rewarded greatly. And That is the message for today to Obey it will make life much more easier and fruitful until nexttime I am Pastor Josh signing off may peace be with you always!
