Here's the link to the model legislation: http://www.ama-
assn.org/resources/doc/arc/x-ama/expertwit-regs.pdf

It is well written, and reflects the provisions of FedRule CP #26, which is a
very good rule based on Daubert requirements, adopted in some states and all
federal courts, that requires an expert disclose their recent testimonial and
publishing history and remuneration as well as the basis for their testimony.

Also, the model excludes medical evidence that is procured by way of an expert
witness procurement service that operates on a contingency basis.

However, Model Legislation is only that: a model individuals or state component
societies can use to influence legislation in their own states if they are so
inclined and have the resources. Nothing prevents specialty societies from
using it.

I would suggest that individual members of this list consider sending it to
their respective specialty society's state legislative committee as a
suggestion for future lobbying efforts. It was very challenging to find on the
AMA website and it is unlikely that they have diseminated it as it is very
recent.
