I had an 11 worksheet Excel spreadsheet that looked pretty simple (one
two-part table per worksheet). I thought simple enough, I can translate
this in my standalone TM tool (DVX2, beta version). (This is faster than
the cell by cell movement of Felix translation.)
Stupidity practice: did not do test export
Fast Forward:
Translation complete, proofed, spell checked, number checked, glossary
checked.
Export: 4 of last 6 worksheets blow up. (Everything all over the place
and unusable)
Reimported, autotranslated and exported with same results.
Time to panic, right?
No!
Exported TM to TMX
Opened TMX in Felix and xls in Excel and Auto Translated all sheets.
Only a couple of segmentation differences made me do some manual work
using TM lookup and Find.
Checked again and job delivered. Bacon saved.
I knew that many (complex) Japanese spreadsheets blow up on export from
standalone TM products, but was surprised at this one. Perhaps it was
the number of worksheets. (I usually translate complex ones in Felix to
begin with. )
However, Felix Auto Translate handled it perfectly with TMX export.
Thanks Ryan.
