Once testing is complete, you can leave a review about your webcam. This is not required, but we encourage you to do so in order to help other people to purchase a good webcam and get around the bad ones. In addition, after publishing your review, you will see how good is your compared camera to others.

To test your camera, all you need is a modern browser (unfortunately, Internet Explorer does not belong to them) that supports features for accessing media devices. As you noticed, this webcam testing tool does not require any additional software like Adobe Flash, Microsoft Silverlight or browser add-ons.

Unfortunately, most webcams are terrible cameras that take terriblepictures. The market for decent quality webcams seems to benon-existent, with the available choices seeming to sit somewhere between bad and mediocre. Laptopwebcams have the additional problem that thin lids mean that the camera isfighting a losing battle against physics [1] thatsoftware can only partly overcome.

I suggest aiming for at least an f/2.8 lens, but preferably f/2.0-f/1.4, asthe ability to work well in low light and to blur the background are both bigadvantages for webcam use. My preferred lens is f/1.4; f/2.8 (which lets in one quarterthe light of f/1.4) is about as narrow an aperture as I can go in mysometimes poorly lit office before image quality suffers. However, note that,in general, the wider the aperture, the more expensive the lens is to make; anf/1.4 lens, for example, is often substantially more expensive than a f/2 lens.

All modern cameras use the same 1/4 mount hole, so pretty much any mountyou buy will work with pretty much any camera. Some people use a tripod, butthat tends to make the camera too low or, if adequately high, potentiallywobbly.

I tried using my Wyze Cam v2 to be a webcam, and did not worked. So gave up on that idea, and attempted to revert it back to being the original Wyze cam. I followed the instructions to the T, and all I get is a flashing blue light. I also tried resetting it to Factory Settings, and same flashing blue light. I left it plugged in for an hour, nothing has changed. Did I just bricked the cam? Please help.

I am having the same issue as others have reported here. The V2 camera is just blinking blue ever since one of the firmware upgrades went bad a few months back. Now I am trying down download the version that someone reported as having worked for them (4.9.4.28) however, there is not an associated link when attempting to select that version. Not like many of the other versions have. This is what I see:

I'm having problems with the webcam utility. I used it last week to stream on Twitch with no issues, but today the webcam utility isn't detecting my camera at all. The USB icon with a red X that usually appears when a camera is not connected is notably missing.

Try installing regular EOS Utility, and then testing functionality with your camera, ports, and cables. Windows should download a device driver the first time you connect a camera to a good USB port and cable.

I just installed the new X Webcam 2 on my iMac running Catalina 10.15.6 and my Fuji X-T3. I followed all of the setup instructions here -dsc.com/en/manual/webcam/. The camera is not detected. The Webcam window shows all of the buttons and settings greyed out. Trying it with Zoom, Webcam 2 is not an option for camera (only the built in webcam).

A friend of mine had it working with x-h1, we've tried to use his cable with my camera (and a little micro-usb to type-c adapter), no luck. Also I've tried all his cables and still not working. I think that there is a problem either with camera software or mac

3) Open up X Webcam. It will open up but as you have said, the settings buttons are all dimmed out. It would appear that the X-T30 does not allow settings to be changed on X webcam but a connection is still made

I think I remember the notes on the new version of the Fuji webcam software mentioning that the X-T30 would not have the ability to change the settings on the software so what you see would be the expected behaviour.

I had the same problem on my X-S10, but I managed to solve it. The problem was that I had a manual lens on. When I switched to an autofocus lens the web camera was recognized. I also got it to work with a manual lens but changing the focus mode to manual before connecting it to the computer. Now it works in Zoom, Google meet etc. I still don't get it to work in the built in Camera app that is of less importance.

The LowePro PhotoSport Outdoor is a camera pack for photographers who also need a well-designed daypack for hiking and other outdoor use. If that sounds like you, the PhotoSport Outdoor may be a great choice, but as with any hybrid product, there are a few tradeoffs.

If you want a compact camera that produces great quality photos without the hassle of changing lenses, there are plenty of choices available for every budget. Read on to find out which portable enthusiast compacts are our favorites.

What's the best camera for travel? Good travel cameras should be small, versatile, and offer good image quality. In this buying guide we've rounded-up several great cameras for travel and recommended the best.

Above $2500 cameras tend to become increasingly specialized, making it difficult to select a 'best' option. We case our eye over the options costing more than $2500 but less than $4000, to find the best all-rounder.

Description of the issue:
Notification from my internet security application of Brave Browser attempts to access my webcam frequently while surfing the web although I choose not to allow sites to use my camera in Settings->Security and Privacy->Site and Shields Settings->Permissions

How can this issue be reproduced?
While surfing the web when open some sites in a new tab (like opening YouTube video) I got this notification from my internet security that Brave Browser attempts to access my webcam (although it should ask first if the previously mentioned setting is allowed).

Note that while your antivirus software may have notified you that Edge was accessing your camera/microphone, your camera and microphone were never activated during this check to see if they were connected. This is why your settings for camera/microphone permissions (both within Edge and in general settings) did not come in to play. Microsoft Edge cannot access your camera/microphone without explicit permission.

The mount/case is easy enough since you can print things for it, and you can get cables that are quite long or even use adapters that allow you to use other types of cables instead, but neither are as convenient as unpacking the USB camera and just plugging it in.

Knowing what I know now, I'd spend a bit more on the picam initially (I just got the cheapest one I could originally) to get one that is designed to be focused and has a better lens on it, but I'd still perfer that over a USB webcam of the same price.

I'm keen to spend around $40 (AUD), which is how much this V2.1 module is on Amazon in Australia. That same amount gets me something like a Logitech c270 ( which is 720p). So yeah I guess what I think I'm tossing up is a slight increase in quality with the pi camera vs convenience for the usb webcam. But maybe there's other considerations I don't know about, hence this post. I've just realised adding a 1m long ribbon cable adds $8 too so I should factor that in as well.

-EDIT- January 2023 - The USB camera is a good option, I got one for 12 that is great, but they are hard to comeby. I would now consider the new Pi Camera Module v3 with HDR and auto/manual focus for 25 (wide-angle 35) with a Pi 3A+ (like zero2W but 2.4/5ghz wifi 28), but the zero2w or 3b/a+ or 4 will equally work.

It's worth considering the USB bus (and maybe cpu) could become overloaded if you have too higher frame rate or resolution or other devices doing a lot at once, whereas using the raspi-cam I believe has a dedicated hardware bus just for that camera serial interface.
I only mention this because I think the ethernet uses the usb bus on RPi so at some point if you could reach capacity.
(I've not noticed any issues - I'm only streaming 1080p from a usb camera over ethernet and using usb-serial for the printer).

If you download the YI pc app and download and install OBS studio you can set OBS to capture the YI camera app feed, then in obs set its output to webcam. In your chosen application you would have to choose the OBS camera and it should show your YI camera feed.

To open up your webcam or camera, select the Start button, then select All apps, and then select Camera in the list of apps. If you have multiple cameras, you can switch between them by selecting Change Camera at the top right once the Camera app is opened.

Does anyone know any free app that offers at least 1080p quality and doesn't lag or anything like that. Vdo.ninja is really laggy and the other ones that I've tried either had a watermark over the video or were really laggy and delayed. I want to make youtube videos with a really good quality. I bought a mic, but for the camera I thought that I could just use my phone because mine takes videos in 1080p/60fps. And also it would be great if the app would work via USB cable because it's the most stable connection.

Use your phone's camera as a wireless webcam in your PC or Mac.
Install Webcam for Windows, Mac or Linux, download Iriun Webcam app to your mobile phone and start using the phone with your favourite video applications.
