Feedzirra and Jruby (Torquebox)

I'm using jruby via Torquebox for a development project and I was wondering if there was any way that I could use Feedzirra.  I've read a couple post that mentioned refactoring to accommodate the Jruby fans, but I haven been able to figure out if these efforts wore successful.   My aim is simply to be able to utilize this great tool in my project. 

I'd appreciate any guidance or suggestions anyone can offer.
