Hey everybody, if anyone has an immediate need for running Feedzirra
in a JRuby ENV, you can go ahead and pull the gem from my fork:
http://github.com/mwilliams/feedzirra/tree/master

My co-worker and I paired on a simple solution to fall back to
Net:HTTP if curb isn't available. It's not nearly as fast but it
still does one heck of a job on parsing.

There's also some discussion on the JRuby mailing list right now on
getting curb JRuby friendly which would get the speed back.

I also believe Paul has some plans to make Feedzirra JRuby friendly,
but I don't want to speak for him :), so don't take my word on that!

And thanks Paul for the awesome library!

I would definitely like to make Feedzirra jRuby friendly. There are
two things I need to do to make this happen:

move Feedzirra over to Typhoeus
convert Typhoeus to FFI

The first one I'm planning on doing in a few weeks. I'm going to do a
big Feedzirra refactor where I make some breaking changes to the API
and get it off of curb.

I'm not sure what the time frame on the second one is. I'm hoping to
recruit someone to do this since I don't really have time.

Best,
Paul
