This week we are hosting a group of 6 activists from the Occupy Farms working group of Occupy Wall Street. Occupy Farms is an evolving concept - the essence of the project is to nurture a conversation about an alternative organization of society, a reliance on direct association with the earth and how we must be involved with the source of life, from planting and feeding until food arrives on our plates. This group works within the Occupy movement in order to funnel the interests of small farmers into the discussion of people the world over. The fight for a healthy sustainable food source is something that concerns all of us. Fair Food Farm is hosting a rotating cast of occupiers who are working in trade for food to bring back down to New York with them.
The occu-potluck is an opportunity to let us know what you'd like to see Occupy Farms focus on. I think it is crucial we don't waste time replicating organizations that are working well already, and there are a lot of farm support organizations out there. Where is our niche, and how can we support the excellent work already happening.
GIve a call or email and let me know if you're coming... please do!
