I have a blog in blogger that is private (only available to authors) and I would like to create a feedburner feed.
When I create the feed address with the format of http://username:password@feedurl... I get a validation error in feedburner.
I know the username and password I'm using are valid (however, the user name I enter into the url does not include the @domain.net, it is simply the user name.)
The username used is also an admin of the blog.
No matter what I do the validation fails.
I know the feedurl I'm using is valid because I can change the blog to public (available to anybody) and my feed validates and I can read the rss feed.
(I also see that if I enter the user name and password in the
However, when I set the blog back to private (available to authors only) the feed fails to update (I resync and I get an error that a username and password is needed).
Do I need to do something special to enter the @domain in the user name?
From what I can see in the documentation I've set this up correctly.
Help!

Blogger usernames are email addresses, so you should try including the whole email username.

OK.
How, then do I include "user...@domain.com:password" in the URL so that it is in the format of http://user...@domain.com:password@feedurl?
When I try to enter the complete name I get the following:

The feed address you entered includes an invalid leading or trailing character in the hostname. FeedBurner cannot resolve an address with leading or trailing punctuation. Try providing your feed's unique IP address to avoid this problem. (Blogger users hosted on blogspot.com cannot provide a unique IP address. We recommend a hostname that uses only alphanumeric characters.)

It sounds like you may not be able to do it.  Blogger login usernames are email addresses, so if you can't use that as the Feedburner username, and you can't provide an IP address, I don't know what else you could do.

Private Wordpress managed blogs use a regular (non-email) username to sign in, so maybe that would be a better option?
