Hi Jenetta,
Some good thoughts....and thanks for mentioning us on Warrior Forum - I have used that site in the past and found it worthwhile.
A couple points:
1. Regarding what you said about most of your list not receiving the updates during the import process, this is true in one sense but not entirely. It will keep track of who has received which posts. So even if a subscriber is not in the first or second import batch, when they do finally receive a mailing, they will get *all* posts they have missed. So it customizes each mailing to the subscriber based on what they've received so far during the import process. This could mean including several posts in one email (so it's not exactly the same), but just wanted to clarify this.
2. As you pointed out - transitioning over by keeping your current subscribers on FeedBurner and putting new ones on FeedmailPro is a perfectly viable solution to try it out. And it doesn't prevent you from transferring the entire thing over later (through the import process) if you are comfortable with it later. This can be a good way to test the waters, especially since you expressed concern over the longevity (which is perfectly valid by the way).
3. On the longevity, I don't want to promise something that I can't possibly promise here. Business is unpredictable, and we could be sued out of existence or bought up or who knows what tomorrow. That being said, I think we have a good chance of surviving simply because we are a paid service and making money. Some of the other fly-by-night companies who have come and gone in this business while trying to do this were offering free services, and they eventually collapsed under the expenses of running such a service without any revenue coming in. This was/is part of the Silicon Valley mentality that still persists - suffice to say I'm not a fan of it. But I will tell you that in some sort of hypothetical worst case scenario where we are forced to close our doors, I would certainly make an effort to ensure at the very least everyone is allowed to export their data and save their lists. We run nightly backups offsite so I can't imagine a scenario (hackers or who knows what) that wouldn't allow us to at the very least recover the data. That being said, I've learned to never say never in life - there is always something which can catch you off guard. Anyone who tells you different is lying.
Anyway, that probably won't make you sleep an easier but I feel like it's better to honest :)
Hope it helps,
Brian Armstrong
Thank you,
