I am testing my feed and I set it to "partial posts". But all I am
getting in the email is the title and {!rss_item_description} under
it- not a partial post.

what do I need to change to fix this?

Hi Jen,

Ok good to hear the partial posts started showing up.  I was going to suggest that the RSS feed may not contain any entries in the post summary field.  Was this the case?

As for Adsense not showing up, this has been erratic lately and has affected others as well.  It is something todo with Google where they are only showing them in certain situations which is frustrating.  I've contacted them and am awaiting more news on this.  Apologies for the trouble here.  I'll write back if/when I have more info.

Thank you,
Brian Armstrong

That would be great because I would really like to do a test switching
to you but I am making a good amount from adsense and can't risk
giving it up.

Oh and there were entries that should have been in the field.

I just checked the email again and I am now seeing adsense. So I will
keep testing it on myself for a few days and then test it on my list.

thanks

Hi Jenetta,

Ok good to know.  I'm curious to see what your results are with Adsense as well since I'm trying to see if it affects all accounts here or just some.  Thanks!

Thank you,

Right now I am still in the testing phase (sending out to multiple of my own addresses) but I am seeing it.

One unique aspect to my situation is right now the feed is running through my feedburner feed address (this is why I was having with the partial posts showing up- because in order to do this it has to be set to full posts (my feedburner feed is already partial).

At this point transferring over my whole list has pros and cons- the biggest con is that the system would have to drip the emails for the first few days and either I would have to send some people two or most of my list would just not receive it.  And my biggest use of FMP is that I want the custom "thank you page" to possible offer something so more of my sign ups will finish the double opt in- and I don't need that for those that are already signed up.

Since we are talking I have a question- I am very interested in using your service and even if I don't import my list (I have over 6000 on my list already) I will be at your paid service before the end of the year.

That said, I am concerned about the longevity of FMP- it seems like a good product and I'm sure it is growing, but I want to make sure if I decided to switch that is is going to be around.  I know that I can back up my list and if worse came to worse I could go to a 3rd party Aweber for $20-30 a month.  But obviously I can't use feedburner with that list.

What are your thoughts on this.

Oh and I mentioned FMP on warriorforum.com

Hi Jenetta,

Some good thoughts....and thanks for mentioning us on Warrior Forum - I have used that site in the past and found it worthwhile.

A couple points:

1. Regarding what you said about most of your list not receiving the updates during the import process, this is true in one sense but not entirely.  It will keep track of who has received which posts.  So even if a subscriber is not in the first or second import batch, when they do finally receive a mailing, they will get *all* posts they have missed.  So it customizes each mailing to the subscriber based on what they've received so far during the import process.  This could mean including several posts in one email (so it's not exactly the same), but just wanted to clarify this.

2. As you pointed out - transitioning over by keeping your current subscribers on FeedBurner and putting new ones on FeedmailPro is a perfectly viable solution to try it out.  And it doesn't prevent you from transferring the entire thing over later (through the import process) if you are comfortable with it later.  This can be a good way to test the waters, especially since you expressed concern over the longevity (which is perfectly valid by the way).

3. On the longevity, I don't want to promise something that I can't possibly promise here.  Business is unpredictable, and we could be sued out of existence or bought up or who knows what tomorrow.  That being said, I think we have a good chance of surviving simply because we are a paid service and making money.  Some of the other fly-by-night companies who have come and gone in this business while trying to do this were offering free services, and they eventually collapsed under the expenses of running such a service without any revenue coming in.  This was/is part of the Silicon Valley mentality that still persists - suffice to say I'm not a fan of it.  But I will tell you that in some sort of hypothetical worst case scenario where we are forced to close our doors, I would certainly make an effort to ensure at the very least everyone is allowed to export their data and save their lists.  We run nightly backups offsite so I can't imagine a scenario (hackers or who knows what) that wouldn't allow us to at the very least recover the data.  That being said, I've learned to never say never in life - there is always something which can catch you off guard.  Anyone who tells you different is lying.

Anyway, that probably won't make you sleep an easier but I feel like it's better to honest :)

Hope it helps,
Brian Armstrong

Thank you,
Brian Armstrong
