Perhaps I've misunderstood the purpose of this option, or maybe it's
just not working, but I'm having some trouble with the "Create podcast
enclosures from..." option in the SmartCast settings area.

Here's my situation:

I have one blog that automatically generates one RSS feed -- of
course. That's standard. In my blog posts, I publish a link to an .mp4
video file (my video podcast) and to an .mp3 audio file (my audio
podcast). The content is the same; the audio is just stripped from the
video so my audience has a choice about which type of content to
consume.

Here's where I get messed up:

I've created two FeedBurner feeds, but they both pull from my one
source RSS feed. I thought that I could have designated FeedBurner
feed #1 as my "video podcast feed" by changing the "Create podcast
enclosures from..." option to "...links to video files," and then I'd
designated FeedBurner feed #2 as my "audio podcast feed" by changing
the option to "...links to audio files."

I've done that, but it's not working. Both of my FeedBurner feeds
contain the exact same content. But it's not even as simple as "the
'Create podcast enclosures from...' option isn't working" because
there seems to be no logic to the enclosures. I have several posts
with both audio and video podcast links, and my feed shows video
enclosures for some and audio enclosures for others.

I'm confused and a little frustrated. Any help is much appreciated.

Hi Mike,

I'm not sure, but I think you may have misunderstood the idea behind
"enclosures". The enclosure is just a link to your original media file
but it allows feedburner to record statistics about the use of the
media. Changing the type of media will only change what your feed
states as the media type but at the end of the day the media will
always be whatever the media is regardless of what your feeds xml
states.

This is how I understand the "enclosures", but I'm a relative newbie
myself so other users please feel free to jump in and comment.

You may have already seen this but I found the following page quite
helpful:

Apologies if I've misunderstood your question, hope this helps.

I understand at least that much of the matter, but my issue is this:

I have some audio and some video files that are linked to from within
my blog and, therefore, from within my source feed. As I understand
it, enclosures in the feed are what podcatching applications see as
"podcasts" to be downloaded.

So when I tell FeedBurner to only create enclosures from video files
for Feed X, why does iTunes display both audio and video podcasts from
Feed X?

Thanks, though, Nelly.
