It appears the newly formatted podcast enclosure links are not working with Juice (formerly iPodder). See, for example, this e-mail I just received from one of our subscribers:

Dave -
I'm having problems getting the Milt and Steve Cochran podcasts this week.
I'm using iPodder, and have managed to get the podcasts since the service started, so this just started.

It looks like the feedburner URL changed for the actual download, and it's timing out.

The week previous, for example, it was:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/wgnradio/stevecochran.mp3?d=93
Now, it's appearing as:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/wgnradio/stevecochran/~5/http:%3A%2F%2Fcaster.wgnradio.com%2Fpodcasts%2Fscpod-042-060712.mp3

I checked my subscription address against what was posted on the 'GN website, and it's still correct, so I suspect something's gone funky somewhere.

Thanks.
Kris

Please let me know what can be done. Thanks.

I have the same problem with Juice with my podcast

feeds.feedburner.com/naniwamanga

the audio files are now looking like this and no longer work

http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/NaniwaManga/~5/http%3A%2F%2Fwww.archive.org%2Fdownload%2FMangaBlogCast_004%2FMangaBlogCast004.m4a

Before July 11th they looked like this

http://feeds.feedburner.com//NaniwaManga.m4a?d=1225

... and worked fine.

The switched has worked on iTunes so far. But it really impacted my listenership over the last few days.

I am having the same problem too.

http://feeds.feedburner.com/nikinparis

The URL for media enclosures have changed from:

Content Item: "NiPP#30 Pride continued: two letters"
* Yay! Media enclosure created for: nikinparis.mp3?d=416

To:

Content Item: "NiPP#31 Horde of slaves, traitors, plotting kings"
* Yay! Media enclosure created for: http%3A%2F%2F www.podtrac.com%2Fpts%2Fredirect.mp3%3Fhttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.nikinparis.com%2Fpodpress_trac%2Ffeed%2F95%2F0%2Fnipp31-horde_slaves_traitors_kings.mp3

As the other posters have said, the feed validates and works fine in iTunes but I am worried about the Juice/iPodder issue.

Can someone from Feedburner please comment and help?

Thanks,

Nik

Hey folks. We had a problem with regards to enclosures and clickthroughs the other day. Some clients have cached some of these bad URLs at this point, so usually all you need to do is clear out cached copies of the feed, and the links should come up correctly.

You can see our forums post on this issue here:
http://forums.feedburner.com/viewtopic.php?t=5494

How do you resolve this issue with juice. The item URL in my feed is still different than before and doesn't work.

Jiuce is not downloading any of my podcast episodes. It's important that I get this resolved tonight. How do I clean out catched feeds. There is no option in Juice to do that.

Joe,

It does not appear to be the same problem. Pinging or even resyncing does not correct the issue.

Podmedic is still giving me the following (strange) results for my latest enclosure:

Content Item: "NiPP#31 Horde of slaves, traitors, plotting kings"

* Yay! Media enclosure created for: http%3A%2F%2F www.podtrac.com%2Fpts%2Fredirect.mp3%3Fhttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.nikinparis.com%2Fpodpress_trac%2Ffeed%2F95%2F0%2Fnipp31-horde_slaves_traitors_kings.mp3

Content Item: "NiPP#30 Pride continued: two letters"

* Yay! Media enclosure created for: nikinparis.mp3?d=416

This appears to be a different problem than the cached bad URLs problems referenced in an earlier reply. It still exists even with podcasts posted this morning (in the last half hour). We're getting a lot of complaints.

Here is part of the Juice log on my machine including some error messages:

I have also received reports from juice users who all of a sudden cannot get my episodes anymore.

Any idea when this will be resolved?

Here's the Juice error message that a listener has sent to me:

"A problem has occurred attempting to add this subscription: Could not parse RSS - The path is too long after being fully qualified. Make sure path is less than 260 characters"

It seems that the longer format for the tracking that feedburner is using now is pushing my feed items' amount of characters over the 260 character limit that Juice can handle.

Unfortunately the way things are set up here (hosting on Ourmedia plus Podtrac tracking) I have no way to reduce the amount of characters in the path..

feedburner team, could you please change your path structure to something shorter so that I won't loose the Juice listeners?! Please?

OK everyone, we have located the source of the problem, thanks to all of your very detailed reports (I can't thank you enough for the logs, etc).

We have a post in our 'Known Issues and Workarounds' forum for this problem:
http://forums.feedburner.com/viewtopic.php?p=22360

For those publishers seeing the Juice problem on your feed, a temporary workaround is to turn off enclosure download tracking (Under the StandardStats or Total Stats Pro services located on the Analyze tab).

I turned off enclosure download tracking a couple of hours ago, and something still isn't right. It looks like Juice is seeing the basic enclosure links now, but it still can't download. Here's the new error message from the Juice log:

I just looked at your feed, and I see the download links in their original form. Maybe you just needed to refresh your cache after you made the feed changes.

>From the log out you sent, it still looks like you have download tracking turned on. When you have the download tracking turned off, you want see any http://feeds.feedburner.com URLs in your enclosure items.

OK, here's what appears to be happening. Juice must have some sort of cache of its own that I cannot figure out how to access to clear it. Once a download is attempted, the cache remembers the location of this download and, even if it is changed, Juice will always go back to the original location. I even tried removing and reinstalling Juice and it still is going back to the bad addresses with the bad enclosure download tracking links even though those have now been turned off for nearly 24 hours. (After the remove and reinstall, podcast subscriptions that were loaded into Juice previously also did survive, so obviously not all of their files get deleted during the removal process.) However, if I install Juice fresh on a machine that did not have it previously, it works fine and is able to download the podcasts with no problem. I guess the next step is to figure out how to clear this cache within Juice.

Wow. Thanks for the information, Dave. We'll make sure to pass that information on when it comes up again. Thanks again for your assistance.

This is the second time now that iPodder/Juice has had a major problem with podcast downloads. My download averages are still being skewed from the last FUBAR back in late 2005.

I am experiencing similar issues with the feed having what look like mal formed enclosure links generated by FeedBurner.

initial info
- iPodder 1.4 is the podcatcher
- The feed is http://feeds.feedburner.com/SwineCast
- The web site is http://www.swinecast.com/index.html
Symptoms:
- The site is published and the feed is read by iPodder. The download results in the log show
Downloading http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/Swinecast/~5/http%3A%2F%2Fwww.swinecast.com%2Fmp3%2Fswinecast071406.mp3

Looking at the feed directly (putting http://feeds.feedburner.com/SwineCast in address bar of browser) also shows some funny stuff in enclsure link
<enclosure url=" http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/Swinecast/~5/http%3A%2F%2Fwww.swinecast.com%2Fmp3%2F060714_SwineCast_0116.mp3" length="34396510" type="audio/mpeg"/>

Older shows have their enclosure look like this
<enclosure url=" http://feeds.feedburner.com/Swinecast.mp3?d=112" length="23269376" type="audio/mpeg"/>

FeedBurner is generating some feed code that appears to not look correct. I have deleted the blog post for this and reposted via new entery and re-published. The feed data is still not correct. This is not an iPodder issue, this is a FeedBurner issue (iPodder is just taking what is given it:).

I turned off enclosure download tracking, went back to edit feed details, clicked "Save feed details" and got the error below. Independent of the erro, turning off the enclosure download tracking _did_ get the feed to look correct and iPodder is correctly downloading shows (although iPodder queued up all the shows available... cache quirk :)

Please advise when enclosure download tracking can be turned back on.
Still a Feedburner fan:)
Thanks,
John
================================
There is no spoon.
(Nor is there a working page at the address you entered.)

Here is some additional technical detail about the problem you just encountered:

HTTP Error Code: 400

Detail: Invalid path /totalstatistics was requested
What to do?

You may contact FeedBurner to report the problem. Please include the message detail displayed above in your message to us, if possible.

You may also try your original request or action again in case the error was just a momentary blip. We certainly hope that is the actual case.

Hi,

We're actively working on this issue and tracking it here: http://forums.feedburner.com/viewtopic.php?t=5544

A workaround is to turn off download tracking for your feed while this is resolved which should be very soon.
