Cathy Davidson asked on FB if folks wanted to try out this tool. I
have a small class next term on Feminist Social Media Activisms. Is it
appropriate for this class?

More about me and my stuff: http://katiekin.weebly.com/

The class is a senior seminar: about 12 to 15 students, doing research
and activities.

Best wishes, Katie King

Hi Katie,

Thanks so much for being in touch. It may very well make sense, but you'll knowingly be offering to be our guinea pigs :)

When were you thinking of using it? Next semester?

What we're building, at bottom, is a platform for facilitating real-time communication between teachers and learners. On top of that platform we're enabling people to write modules—i.e., a polling module, a Q/A module, and other creative things we haven't thought of yet.

Since we're just getting started building the project out, it might actually be more useful to communicate with you and your students about what you'd like to use. I.e., can we study how your class works and use those insights to help us improve what we're doing? What modules would help you facilitate learning?

We would really value your feedback! Sam or I would be happy to spend a few minutes on the phone if that's easier.

Cheers,
Ben

Well, I am only just starting to plan out the course, which will not start until the end of January. I will be working with a grad student who has lots of technical skills I don't have and who will run some workshops for students on how to do things. But we haven't even decided what these things are yet!

How is your tool like/not like twitter? we are wanting students to be mobile if possible, maybe produce some stories at particular sites in the city and store them perhaps to share? maybe stuff to map where resources for activism are located, ngos and such?

I'm just listing some obvious things. I will talk to Jarah Moesch, working with me, and we will try to get back to you too. have you got any descriptive stuff we could work off of? that I could share with her?

Many thanks! I think this could be fun! Katie
