Idea for how it works

Hey Sam and All,

I wonder if it would be possible for the Feedbacker to include a user
interface that is somewhat "programmable" for lack of a better word.
The leader (prof, lecturer, whoever) could name the buttons (Up/Down/
Neutral or Understand/Don't Understand/Please Continue) or whatever
they want when they set it up for use with their class/lecture/event.
They could also add in the ability for listeners to comment or ask
questions, and to respond to other listener's comments/questions. It
might be that this functionality would all be the default, but the
lecturer could turn off this functionality.

I'm assuming that each instance of use would get a new url. So the
user would set that up. Also s/he could define the settings for saving
the session, emailing it to the user or not, saving as a pdf or html,
or whatever.

They could also change other more cosmetic settings, like colors.

You've probably already thought of this, but since I'm late to the
party I felt compelled to share my thoughts.

Brilliant!!   This takes away so much of the stigma and makes it an invaluable tool.  Customizable language is key!

Hi Nancy,

I completely agree. As I wrote in the "Educator discussion" forum,
we'll be building this project out in different "modules" or "modes".
Right now as the project exists we are in "stock graph" mode, and I
imagine that this mode will be eventually fleshed out to allow users
to customize the button labels and maybe choose between more graphical
representations, including pie charts and bar graphs.

The Q/A functionality (along with chat and microblogging systems Jade
was referring to) I would describe as a separate "mode" and would be
built out separately, with the eventual goal of letting professors/
speakers specify several modules at the beginning of classes/talks,
and users will simply be able to access all functions though a little
"tab" system. On one tab they can use the "stock graph" functionality,
and on the other they can access the Q/A functionality. Other modes
not specified by the professor/speaker up front will not be accessible
to students/audience members.

This modal system is advantageous from a development standpoint
because it allows teams to focus on making their module the best they
can without worrying about sharing a UI with other modules. Right now
this is analogous to the philosophy behind iOS and Android operating
systems, which allows for modal "apps" that users can toggle between.

Here is the Etherpad with our one-page description. Ben and I will go
over it tomorrow in greater detail to tune it up for prime time.

Hey, Sam. I think between this draft and the mock-ups you presented yesterday, you should have the makings of a pretty great one-pager for the project.
Just left a couple notes on the one-pager draft.

I added some questions to the bottom of the public pad. Please let me
know if they should go somewhere else.

Thanks Matt! I'll make the revisions.

Also, Andrew will be sending out a list of technical objectives in the very near future.
